"Yowie" wrote in message ... The last mystery is solved: when the bubbels move down the screen, they don't just randomly rearrange themselves, because they are arranged in hexagonal format and "down" isn't a directiont he hexagons can go neatly to, what happens is that if the line has a gap at the left, when it moves down, it then has a gap at the right (moving all bubbels in that line half a bubbel to the left) and if the line has a gap towards the right, when it moves down one, the gap is then at the left, moving all bubbel sin that line half a bubbel to the right. The net up shot is that they move one bubbel across in relations to the rows above and below them. If you had a realy nice configuation that got ruined, it will return to that configuation (assuming you have'nt popped bubbles in between it) the next time they all march down the screen. How did I find this out? (I acknowledge that this is behvaiour of an addict) I used my digital camera to take a picture of the screen before and after each shot, and compared what happened. Now all I need to figure out is the scoring system (its not quite as straight forward as you'd first think), and i might feel sane again. Bwahahahaha. Yowie I knew you'd figure it out. Wow. I know there are extra points for bank shots. Not sure about colors. Let us know how it works. Jo |

Yowie stunned at your intelligence No, not intelligence. If I were in any way intelligent, I'd not have clicked on the d*mn link in the first place. This is just sheer bloody mindedness. Now, as to scoring. Pop 3 and you get 30 points. Pop 4 and you get 50, pop 5 you get 60 etc etc. I haven't accounted for popping something like 10. Now, if you *dislodge* one, its 100 points, dislodge 2 its 200 points etc etc that combine together with your popping score. The points for each shot are displayed briefly on the screen before being adding to your final score. If you clear all the bubbels, your score is doubled (which is why Marina's 33k score for finishing the game is incredibly good - means she did it *very* quickly) However, just on occasion, it gives you slightly morepoints that I would expect. I think perhaps if you pop and/or dislodge more than aparticular number, the score for each extra bubbel increases. Still trying to figure it out. Perhaps once I've figured it *all* out I can quit playing. (hahaha. And the snowball isn't helping any, Lena!) And, since I'm just as addicted as everyone else, is anyone keeping a tally board? If not, I'll volunteer. E-mail me your scores, indicating whether you finished the game with that score or not, and I'll make a tally of hte top 10 on my Angelfire site (the one that hosts the FAQ - come to think of it, Bubbels probably needs to be mentioned inthe FAQ too. *sigh*) I'll have two lits of "top 10" scores, one for the *highest* score for not completing the game and another for hte *lowest* score for completing the game. I suspect Victor will be the top of the former, and Marina will be the top of the latter. May Bonnie **** in the sink forever. Yowie Bubbeloholic No.012 |

One can look at the game both ways, the most points is better or the less points is better. If you want points, you'll avoid clearing colors as long as you can and you will try to dislogde as many bubbles as possible. If you want to minimize the points, then you do the opposite. Different strategies for different objectives. My highest score not completing the game (meaning without having it doubled for clearing all the bubbles) was a bit above 150k (I was so close to clearing out the whole thing, I was trying to maximize my score and ran out of time). My highest score finishing the game was about 170k. -- Victor Martinez Owned and operated by the Fantastic Seven (TM) Send your spam he Email me he |

Victor Martinez had some very interesting things to
say about [BUBBELS] Mystery solved: My highest score not completing the game (meaning without having it doubled for clearing all the bubbles) was a bit above 150k (I was so close to clearing out the whole thing, I was trying to maximize my score and ran out of time). My highest score finishing the game was about 170k. My high with finish was 171430. -- "The universe is quite robust in design and appears to be doing just fine on its own, incompetent support staff notwithstanding. :-)" - the Dennis formerly known as (evil), MCFL |
