Tribute to Bear, House of Polinadro
Louise says this is too many words and so she is making me do it.
Bear, a smallish tomcat, had a black head and a brown body with black stripes. He lived several houses away, maybe a quarter mile away, down a steep hill. Every few days he would come over to the back yard, courting Louise. If no one was in the yard, he would climb onto the back porch and look through the window to see what was going on inside. Then he would call Louise, softly and politely. If Louise was interested, she would go over to him and they would rub noses, then sit or lie several feet apart just looking at each other. Once they gave their interpretation of the balcony scene from "Romeo and Juliet" as "Bearmeo and Louisiette," with Bear sitting on a stepladder and Louise on top of a window air conditioner. Louise told me they had been secretly winkwinked, and mentioned something that I didn't quite catch about Friar Laurence. He was the only cat that Louise ever actually liked. Then we found Bear dead next to a busy road, a half mile from his (and Louise's) home. Unca Adam ========== Bear I not 4get u. Louise |
