Default Persia's Changing Routines

Persia has a cushy pyramid bed in the den. She used to nap in it quite
often. Not so much this year. Then again, it's been pretty warm this year.

But... it's gotten a little chilly outside. I love this time of year.
It's nicely cool in the house (without the need for A/C or heat).
Yesterday evening Persia reminded herself, hey, I've got this nice cozy
cat cave.

She looked so sweet. She groomed herself, then snoozed in her little
bed for over an hour. She didn't even budge when the phone rang and I
was talking to John. After a while she got out of her bed. She
streeetttched and walked out of the room.

I figured she was going to eat some kibble. Or get a drink of water.
Or use the litterbox. She probably did all of the above. LOL She
decided to finish the second half of her nap on the sofa in the living
room.

Persia rarely gets on the sofa. When I've seen her do it, it's late
Spring or early Summer. In the morning. That's when sun comes in
through the back windows. She's a sucker for a spot of sunshine.

IOW, I haven't really seen her on the sofa in the evening or at night.
Not even when I'm at my desk in the corner of the room. She does like
to be in the same room with me.

Then again, when I go to bed, if she's not curled up next to me I don't
know where she sleeps. For all I know, she could be sleeping on that
sofa all the time. j/k! I think I'd have noticed an excess of grey fur
on the mostly white sofa.

Was it that stretch where they shuffle forward while leaving their
hindquarters behind?

Dot loves her beauty sleep, Buster would love to always sleep on my lap.
But Spicey - I never see her asleep. She's a very alert cat.

It's hard to describe. She stretches, front to back. LOL This is often
followed by a 'Halloween cat' arching of her back. She's working all
the kinks out. My little girl is getting old.

I'm sure Spicey sleeps. When you're not looking. Cats are sneaky that
way.

It is that time of year where the cats remember their cold weather
hideyspots. I saw Scooter in the enclosed box at the bottom of the cat
tree - which just happens to be next to the radiator. The perch that
looks out the back window, which just happens to be over the radiator
in that room, is also even more popular than ever. And outside, I've
turned the heat on in the cat house and Baby has already been spotted
hanging in there.

But I hate cold weather even more than ever. I'm not sure of my exact
retirement plans, but it looks like three more winters counting this
one and then I might end up in Florida. The cats will have a new home
and new things to climb.

Well, it's not cold enough here for me to even turn the heater on yet.
But she's getting older and the living room sofa does get sunshine an
hour earlier since the time change. Persia's little pyramid bed is in
the den. When I'm in there reading or watching TV, it's a cozy place
for her to curl up.

I know I couldn't tolerate places where it snows all the time. When I
lived in the Memphis area we'd occasionally get snow. More often, sleet
and ice, which is much worse. I don't see any of that in South
Carolina, which is as far south as I'm willing to go.
