... Is one of them the declawed cat you mentioned earlier that was roaming your neighborhood? I just don't see how raising money is going to tend to the immediate need, which is to trap/catch the cats and get them off the streets. Unless the calico is neutered, she's going to be having kittens. What about the no-kill shelter you speak of? Can they take the cats if someone traps them? Sherry Yes, why don't you trap them and take them to a no-kill shelter? Better than wandering around. One of the volunteers at the shelter I am with frequents the area apartments looking for strays. He talks to the management to find out if people have abandoned cats, and he traps them and fosters them if we don't immediately have room in the shelter. People can really suck sometimes. They think hey, we're moving, just dump the cat. It will take care of itself. You are worried about why people just let these cats fend for themselves? Well, isn't that what you are doing? Most people do not know a whole lot about cat rescue, and are not going to bring two unknown stray cats into their house. What if they already have cats? You are sitting there not really doing anything, and I'm not saying it is your responsibility. But it's not the other complex residents' responsiblity, either. If everyone is so concerned about these cats, someone should take the initiative to contact a rescue oraganization and get some help with trapping and getting these cats to a safe place. -- -Kelly kelly at farringtons dot net Check out www.snittens.com |

CP likes to talk about "protecting cats", but rarely ever does it. He's hypocrisy personified (higher level of hypocrite). Most people do not know a whole lot about cat rescue, and are not going to bring two unknown stray cats into their house. What if they already have cats? You are sitting there not really doing anything, and I'm not saying it is your responsibility. As a self-designated "Cat Protector", isn't it his responsibility? But it's not the other complex residents' responsiblity, either. If everyone is so concerned about these cats, someone should take the initiative to contact a rescue oraganization and get some help with trapping and getting these cats to a safe place. Yes, make use of other resources and consider other options. Rather than asking for money, CP could ask people to donate cat food and cat litter so he can take the cats into his home with little cost to himself. And he could find a vet who would work out a payment plan and/or throw in some services for free. None of these things would happen though, neither would the suggestion of using a cat rescue organization. CP never heeds others' suggestions. I suspect that CP wants to keep the cats in their current situation to make it appear that he's taking responsibility for them and that he "cares" for them. In fact, however, he's doing nothing to help them. He's more like Cat-Killer-By-Neglect, not Cat Protector. rona -- ***For e-mail, replace .com with .ca Sorry for the inconvenience!*** |

Apparently there are now two stray cats in my complex that have seemingly been alone for a while. One is a Calico and the other is a long haired black cat. The management approached me about helping these two cats but I am limited on funds but they have allowed me to start a fund raising/donation drive to help these cats. A collection jar is being posted in the complex office so I can get these two cats to a vet and hopefully get them checked out. What bothers me is how people can just let these two cats go to fend for themselves. One of the complex people is worried because we have kids in this complex and they were not sure that the kids would harm these felines. Has anyone else here had neighbors and such contribute to helping cats they didn't know? As far as these two cats go, I have yet to see them but offered to chip in the first couple of dollars to help these cats. You're such a hypocrite. You're doing the same thing your neighbors are! You're saying you have limited funds, you're obviously not taking them in, so why are you condemning your neighbors? Pot calling the kettle black. |

Really that was my first thought but for some reason I was hesitant to post it. The mighty Cat Protector tossing two dollars in a jar. What a hyprocrite. CP will twist this post and make it into a money issue. It's not. It's about getting off your ass and borrowing a trap, getting the cats off the street and taking them to the no-kill shelter he talks about all the time. I bet he won't do it. Sherry |

Years ago a few neighbors approached me about chipping in to pay a vet to
fix up an infected outside cat. They had it figured how much we should each chip in and it was three of us. It worked out fine. -- Barb I can only please one person a day. Today is not your day. Tomorrow doesn't look good either. |
