The Highland Kitties (and humans) arrived safely in Iowa
Sorry I haven't updated recently, but things have been a bit busy here.
Our drive from CA to IA was fairly uneventful, and we got into Grinnell, IA on Friday. The place we rented turned out to be way smaller than we expected (yes, we rented it sight-unseen), so we put 3/4 of our stuff into storage, and are basically camped out on the ground floor of this 2 story house for now. Saturday we ran into Newton (where my job will be moving this summer), intending to look for a larger house to rent. Much to our surprise, we found a nearly perfect house, set up just the way we would like, at a price we can afford to BUY! So we made an offer on it, and it was accepted. Now it's just a question of arranging the financing. The kitties traveled pretty well. None of the them enjoyed the trip, but none of them were overly traumatized either. Ranger-man (who can now be called Ranger Roadcat, since he rode in the big truck with me for 2 days of the journey) and Harri have been pretty cool and laid-back about the whole thing, but all the other kitties kept themselves pretty well hidden for the first 24 hours. Now, however, everybody seems to settling in nicely and all seem to be comfortable in our new place. Perhaps a little TOO comfortable - our mattress starts to feel like a racetrack late at night, when all 6 of the kitties come to snuggle for at least part of the night. I'll post more when I get a little more time. Thanks, everybody, for your purrs! A few more would be appreciated, until we get the new house purchase completed. Dan |

It sounds as though Bast is looking after you, what with finding the perfect house right away. Joy |

((Perhaps a little TOO comfortable - our mattress starts to feel like a racetrack)) Awwww.... You're their link to stability in all this nasty upheaval. PatM |
