Default Indoor neutered male becomes very aggressive when stray comes to our door......

A local farmer lets his cat out and natch, it comes right to our house.
Well, my 3 year old 20 pound neutered male goes bananas. Two times now as I
walk into the room and see that this other male is outside, my male
instantly flies at me and bites me hard on my leg-thru my jeans - Blood all
over. It happens super fast. My male has NEVER bitten. He's feisty at
times, but has never bitten us. It's as tho he goes into a trance and takes
out his aggression on me. So far, he hasn't attacked my other 2 cats
(females-spayed) but I'm afraid. My cats do NOT go outside and never have.
I asked the farmer to keep his cat in but it's still out.
I contacted the police (we have no animal control person here-it's the
police) and they said they will pick the cat up. However, now I have had to
go to the Dr twice for cat bites and now I have to take MY male in to see
if he has rabies (state law) for 3 visits-he doesn't have rabies!!! Who
should pay these bills? What can I do to calm down my male.
