Ever smell your cat?
Sylvie smells like a very old fur coat (!) which (dignity aside) she
actually is. BT Rowdy smells "dusty" - not surprising, as he rolls around in corners and under furniture and sleeps splayed out like "deadcat" mode. Maluce has a strange, "fruity" faint smell to her fur almost like children's cologne. All 3 are meticulous bathers. Brenna smells kinda like a light, flowery perfumed talc (powder). : I don't know if that makes sense, but that's how my brain interprets : it. It bothers her when I scoop her up and smell her fur, but that's : tough. I'm bigger and know how to hold her to minimize the damage. : : - Denise : : |

I love the various scents. Even if I don't see which kitty it is I can tell from the scent. Flippy in Melbourne, Australia. My Cats: http://www.flippyscatpage.com |

Our cats smell clean, almost neutral. Well, if you smell their fur. If you
smell their butts, that's whole other scent... -- Victor M. Martinez http://www.che.utexas.edu/~martiv |

The rest don't seem to stand out one way or the other. Pam S |

I sure wonder what my cat's been up to when he comes home smelling like
cheap perfume. LOL wrote: "Brenda Watkins" wrote in message ... my cats do each have their own distinct smell - I notice it most when I'm burying my face against a kitty neck. They smell pretty nice, too! Bunter had his wonderful "Bunter smell," which I loved, and which changed gradually as his illness progressed. He didn't smell bad at any point, but after a while, he just didn't smell like Bunter anymore. Brenda When I bury my nose in Mikey's fur, he smells sort of like a little kid who's been playing out in the sun. :-) One of the ways I know when he doesn't feel good is that his smell changes. It's not *bad*, just different. It's interesting you noticed the same thing with Bunter - I wonder if humans do that too? Maybe that's how our kitties always know when we need nursing. ------ Krista -- John Kimmel |
