I just had to laugh at this...we call the smell kittens get as "kitten
stinky". As in, "Honey, did you wash the kitten stinky off your hands
before you did xyz?..."

they smell? i've never noticed any bad smell from kittens or cats.
dogs do smell often though. Shaina's fur smells really nice. also,
if she lies on my clothes, it smells like my perfume sometimes, which
is kinda funny.

Someone also told me one that puppy breath smells like bologna. It
does.

i don't know, it doesn't smell all that great to me. i like dogs, but
i would never greet them nose to nose as i do cats.

I'm with you on both counts. ;-)

Laura

I have to say I have never had a stinky cat or kitten either.

I have rescued plenty that were stinky. And the bottle babies when
they potty train get pretty darn stinky, too.

Hello,

Last week, my girlfriend and I adopted 2 femaile kittens that are 11 weeks
old. We called them Lepa and Joy. In the past I had adult cats who thrived
on science diet so when the kittens arrived I put them on science diet for
kittens with chicken (little pellets or balls). They get that and water and
nothing else. They seem to like it a lot.

Unfortunately, they are farting a lot - it is 28 degrees centigrade here
just now and the windows are closed due to the kittens so my place smells
none too attractive right now. When they fart it really smells like they
have done a **** but they haven't. Is this sort of thing normal for little
kittens?

So, I am thinking of trying them on another kind of food. Can you recommend
anything else that is as good for growing kittens as science diet? All
suggestions welcome.

Thanks in advance
Paul

FWIW, our cat had the same problem on Science Diet as a kitten, when I
switched her to Iams the gas went away. She's now on something called
"James Wellbeloved" which she quite likes, and there's been no
gassiness associated with the change in food.

Any day you learn something isn't a total waste.

I would be suspicious of a worm problem with your gassy cats.
