Default Another cheap cat toy

Last Christmas we had some mixed nuts in the shells in a bowl by the
tree. Cleo found them. She might have thought they were her present.
She scooped out one, then another , and a third. An English walnut,
an almond, and a pecan. She batted each one a few times and then
decided to play with only one, the pecan. It must be the perfect
weight. It's the perfect size for her to pick up in two paws and toss
in the air. And since it isn't totally round it wobbles and turns as
it rolls which makes it a perfect toy to chase. Cleo has decided
pecans in the shell are her favorite toy. Good thing we still have
some left.

Persia still occasionally takes Brach's butterscotch wrapped candies out of
the bowl and plays hocky with them. It's so funny to see her stand on her
hind legs and delicately pick out a candy, then toss it in the air and run
after it

OMG, that's like The Cherry Bandit!! The funniest thing about The
Cherry Bandit, I think, is when he's knocked a cherry under the
radiator or the fridge, he goes right back to the sink and gets
another one-- again, very delicately.

Too cute! Cherries are in season now (especially the black ones) so when I
go to the store tomorrow I may buy some. We shall see if Persia likes to
play with them

Just don't blame me if in about six months, you're cleaning, and you
come up with some little black, very dried out cherries.

I learned the hard way, but too late, that walnuts are cattoys. The entry
hall to my upstairs portion of Finavon Castle (where I lived in Scotland)
was very old, slightly-warped planking. Bikikie stole several walnuts from a
bowl I put out.
I spent a LOT of time when I should've been sleeping, listening to her bowl
up and down the length of that loonng hallway...
Did me no good to confiscate the bowling ball, either, as she had a supply
of them stashed somewhere. sigh...

While the rest of the cats think that nuts are great play toys, Tanada
thinks that you are supposed to sleep in the bowl of nuts, and that they are
very ergonomic for her back. Fortunately, she lets us have some to eat upon
occasion.
