OT The 3 Resumes
I watched an interview with the Italian writer Beppe Severgnini last night, on C-SPAN3 (I bet I'm the only person who watches that!). Severgnini is a very funny writer, and sharp observer, who wrote a lovely (and hilarious) book called "Ciao, America!" a very affectionate, if somewhat incredulous look at American culture from the POV of a bemused European. He told the interviewer that he has prepared three different resumes for the three countries in which he works-- an American resume, in which he boasts and exaggerates shamelessly; an Italian resume, which he approaches "almost aesthetically-- trying to cut a 'bella figura'"-- and a British resume in which he "apologizes for everything I've ever done." That sounds wonderful - I love that type of book. Just put a hold
on it at my library. Love the resume thing!
