Default Fear of people trumps fear of rain

This week has been a tough one for Quinn, a couple days ago we got one
of this area's specialities: lot of thunder and lightning strikes and
Quinn's normal hidey-hole yielded to hiding out downstairs.

In the middle of the night, Quinn shot outta bed and raced up the hall.
WTH, then I realized the scene on the TV had changed to a downpour and
the sound spooked him. First time I've seen a cat react to audio as
though it was the real thing.

Just now, the TV guy arrived and Quinn disappeared. After he left Quinn
came in from outside where it was raining. Better wet than
the risk of a stranger. Willie's still outside but that's his thang -
neither rain nor snow nor TV repairman will stay him from his appointed
rounds. Norm

The other morning, both cats were ensconced on a cat tree and there was
this HUGE crack of thunder. Both of them jumped straight to the ground.
I don't think we have ever had such loud thunder. It doesn't usually
bother either of them. Pearl dropped five feet without a thought, which
is a big thing for her. Sugar smartly hid in the hall (no glass). I sat
on the floor there talking to her. I think Pearl was embarassed by her
mad rush, but Sugar needed comfort.

It's been raining here all day. Both cats get very excited when it
rains, and rushes in and out, in and out again, chasing each other and
rushing up and down cat trees. They seem to love rain as much as Nikki did.
