Default Need purrs

Work is driving my out of my mind.

I know. I'm retired, on disability since 2003. Work is supposed to
be a distant memory.

But I'm anxious and upset and can't seem to shake it, so I could
really use some calming purrs.

A former accounting and tax client came to see me about a problem that
developed after I quit doing their work. It seems they neglected to
replace me due to various and sundry problems of their own. Now these
are really sweet people that I did work for many years. They are also
now retired and he has Alzheimer's.

I would really like to be able to help them. I spent all afternoon
trying to dig what records I did have for them out of my computer.
I'm exhausted and my nerves are shot. I simply can't handle this sort
of work anymore. Even trying to figure it out has me sick to my
stomach.

Tomorrow I have to explain that to them the best way I know how. I
can't even make a few phone calls on their behalf since I can't hear
to use the phone. And besides they have no money any more to pay
someone else.

I know I won't sleep tonight. I hope I can sleep tomorrow night.

Jo

I'm sorry the past has come back to haunt you like this. Many calming
purrs on the way.

Is there a group in your area that volunteers to help seniors with tax
stuff? This sounds more complicated but maybe one of them could help.

It involves a corporate return that wasn't prepared or filed a couple
of years ago. At least as far as I can tell.

Unfortunately they wouldn't touch it.

Purrs on the way. I certainly don't envy your position, you're just too nice
to say no.

Jo, you are so sweet to help. I hope the folks can get the help they need
elsewhere and you will all be relieved! Purrs of comfort.

A little late but I hope you got some rest! I know you wanted to help but
sometimes you just can't.

What a mess. Those poor people! Could someone from the IRS be assigned to
work with them? That was suggested to me after the highly questionable "tax
person" my parents had used finally gave me all of the 2007 paperwork back.
The woman I spoke with was extremely helpful when I had questions about one
of the forms.

Lots and lots of purrs. Remember that your first priority ought to be

Purrs for it to get sorted- are there any people you know from your working
days who might be able to help?

Soothing purrs on the way. I know you know this already, but... it's not
your responsibility to pull them out of the hole that they dug for
themselves. I know you like them and feel sorry for them, but it was their
failure to hire someone after you retired that got them into this mess - not
you. Just explain to them that you no longer have the resources to help
them, that you are not a working accountant any more and they should see
about getting another accountant or going to legal aid if they can't afford
one.
