Here's hoping that Simon continues to respond and he gets better. He's
lucky to have someone like you who cares so much.

Thanks everyone for the support and sharing your pets story.

I only was able to sleep two hours last night having thoughts bouncing
around in my head.

My mom brought over my pet taxi she borrowed. So then I went to the vet to
see Simon.
He was seemed normal but agitated. I'm sure this is from being at the vet
with all the noises.
His one leg felt cool to the touch from the limited circulation. The vet
said that is normal and there is a good chance his leg will recover.

The big unknown is his heart condition. I have to go have an ultra sound
specialist at another location so they can get a better idea of what is
going on.

This is getting expensive. So far all of this including the ultrasound is
nearly $700.

I'll post updates as I learn more.

John,

Speak to your vet about Nattokinase. Its a natural supplement that seems to
help dissolve and prevent clots. You might want to join the Yahoo Feline
Heart group. Some people in the group have had success with it.

Best of luck,

Phil

I spent $760 today. I'm thankful I had the money, but I'm not rich and
I'm near the limit I can spend. My income is in the poverty range, but I
live alone with little expence. I'm concerned about his leg that is cold,
limp and seems not to have any feeling. I'm no doctor but I'm concerned
that it might need amputated and would be additional expense. The
specialist said that once they start throwing clots, it is a problem that
will likely plague them for the rest of their lives.

I must be tired and depressed because I feel like I brought him home to
die.

John,

Your boy is home warm and safe and sound with you, keep the faith. Does
the leg respond to gentle massage? Remember, vets sometimes try to prepare
one for the worst possible outcome. How does Simon's mood seem? I hope you
can get lots of good sleep tonight.

Today (fri) he took some water but won't take any food.
His leg now is getting circulation as it is warm and is claws got pink in
the quick. However, it is still limp
It hurts him if I touch it at the hip area (same response as before
circulation).
I hope the is no tissue damage from the limited circulation.

He is still groggy, but a bit less so than yesterday. He has an IV on his
front leg. During the night he got up to urinate in the litter box (glad to
see that).

I will certainly check into that. Thanks for the tip!

That's GREAT! Circulation is being restored to his leg!

However, it is still limp

I would be worried too, but the pink claws and warmth are a great sign.

I guess they left the IV in just in case he has to come back? It's really
good he's using his box.

Maybe get whatever food drives him crazy, just to tempt him. Human tuna
usually does it, but Fancy Feast is also good. My cats love Temptations
treats. I think getting food into him is important, if you can do it. Maybe
a little chicken or turkey baby food, he might lick it from your fingers.
(Check the label to be sure there are no onions, as they are bad for cats.)

Phil has brought a lot of us through scary stuff, and corrected my vet more
than once. He's a good man to talk to at a time like this.
