9 month old kitten thinks she is a doctor
My beautiful kitten has been attentive to my breasts these past weeks, pawing my left breast, walking over it which as I have had tender breasts for the past 26 years didn't please me. Yesterday she came up to me as I read in bed, nosed her way to my left breast sniffed then went to the right one sniffed, back to the left one sniffed look up to me and stared at me, so out of curiousity I examined that point and there is a lump, so it looks like another appointment to my doctor as that was the part where a biopsy in 2007 showed I had a benign lump which has been left in, as I have had several lumps over the years which have been deemed benign or fatty tissue, and in fact had a operation in 1993 where keyhole surgery turned into a cut right accross the left breast. I daresay kitty has noticed a change but will my doctor take it seriously?
Probably not just pass it off as a benign lump. |

If it is benign, you are lucky. If not, then you are lucky your kitty is such a good sniffer. Whatever it is, we wish you the best. MLB |

It's probably benign again, but why take a chance? Joy |

Don't let your doctor tell you something you aren't comfortable with. Best of luck. Jill |

Well, dogs are known to be able to smell various changes in chemistry that might indicate a medical problem - everything from oncoming seizures to heart atacks to cancer. I wouldn't be surprised if cats could also detect changes in the body. As you said, it's probably another of the benign lumps you've already had, but as Joy said, why take chances? And you don't *have* to tell your doctor that your kitten was sniffing that breast a lot, especially if you think that's likely to cause him to dismiss your concerns. You could just say you felt it while doing your monthly exam. (He'll give you points for that. ) Good luck! You have a good nurse kitty in the making! -- Joyce Hi, this is the Sylvia stress reduction hotline. I hope that she'll have turned out to have been trying to be a nursing kitty instead of a nurse kitty, but it's good to have either. |
