Tribute: Arlene Knop
Arlene Knop was a vital part of rec.pets.cats and rec.pets.cats.community. Her only cat for many years, Gretchen Marie, was very much involved in various Adventures, and was deeply involved in every Jellicle Ball, seeing to decorations, dancing in her role of Acolyte of Bast. It was her post, asking whether there was a place online where Honoree names could be seen, that inspired the creation of the Walk of Remembranz.
After Gretchen Marie went to the Bridge, Little Kitty took over...she wasn't quite as active as her predecessor (I remember Arlene's saying that her eyesight had gotten very bad) but she picked up GM's decorating and organizing tasks at each Ball. Arlene went to the Bridge herself in April, 2012. Her posts were always filled with energy and inventiveness, always kind. When the newsgroup rec.pets.cats split up, and rec.pets.cats.community began, it was Gretchen Marie who posted a last look around the old group, and shut off the lights. I've thought of you often, Arlene, and wondered but never knew why you slipped away from the newsgroup. Rest well, friend. Melissa |

I was sad when Gretchen Marie left us for RB, Dyna Mo/Mite (RB) and she enjoyed each other, and we interacted a lot. Arlene was an asset to rpcc. Soo sad to hear. Antee Sylvia |
