Default A dog's adventure

Hello, kitties! I have never posted here before, but since I live with
kitties I figgered I could maybe post here anyway. I hope that's ok.

My name is Starr da Dogg. I live in Illinois with 4 kitties and 2 humans.
The kitties are my best buddies in the whole world! We used to live in
Iowa, but we moved to Illinois almost a year ago.

Anyhow, my humans had to go back to Iowa last weekend to work on the
house we used to work on. It needed so much work that my Momma had to go
back to Iowa this last Tuesday, and her stayed in Iowa the whole week. Dat
meant that my Papa had to take me to the Petsmart Doggy Camp every
morning on his way to work. I love the Doggy Camp! They're my best
friends ever! And they play with me! Then my Papa picks me up after work
and we go home and he feeds me dinner and I get to play with my best
buddies in the whole world, the kitties.

Then Saturday morning I helped my Papa get the kitties a lot of food and
water and clean their litter boxes and load a bunch of tools and ladders
and things in the pickup truck, then we got on the freeway for a long,
long drive. Driving is very hard for a doggy - I have to watch all the
cars going by to be sure they don't have any mean doggies in them, so it
gets pretty tiring. I kept watch through the whole drive! Papa stopped
every hour or so, and I put him on a leash and walked him around the rest
areas. Humans have to walk around a little after riding a long time, you
know. And while we were walking around the rest areas, of course I had to
sniff and sniff and sniff. And you know what I found? It was really old
and really faint, but I sniffed my best kitty buddy da Harri da Roadcat's
scent! Dat was so cool!

An while we was on the road I saw something so totally cool - I saw a
truck stop named after my best buddy in the whole world! It was called
Road Ranger! My best buddy Ranger Greykitten is famous - he has a whole
chain of truck stops and gas stations named after him. Dat was so cool!

And then, lots and lots of hours later, we got to Iowa. We parked in da
driveway of the house we used to live in, and there was Mama! I got to
visit with Mama again! Mama and Papa worked on fixing the fence, and
replacing some doors, and scrubbing walls and ceilings, and painting a
ceiling, and a lot of other stuff, and while they did I patrolled the
house and the yard. The yard smelled like a different doggy, but it was
still my old yard. It was so cool!

Mama and Papa and I had to drive to the hardware store, and the grocery
store, and the big hardware store in Ankeny, and when we left the big
hardware store in Ankeny we drove through a Starbucks. Mama got me a
puppy frappe! Puppy frappes are my favorite thing in the whole world!

While we were at the motel resting between work sessions, Mama and Papa
took turns walking me in the parking lot and the grassy area nest to it.
The first time we took a walk in the parking lot we walked kind of close
behind a restaurant called the Okiboji Grill. Along the back of the
restaurant was a hidden kitty sized door and I had to go sniff it. It
opened and a kitty came out. He said dat they don't normally let doggies
in, but he recognized me as da dog that lives with Amelia and Sammy and da
other kitties, so they would let me in. I said thank you very much, but I
was busy walking my human so that he wouldn't get stiff from too little
exercise. But I was invited into a kitty restaurant - that was so cool!

Now we're finally done with working on the house, and the humans went out
to dinner and fed me my favorite dinner in the whole world, and we're all
getting ready to go to bed now. Then tomorrow we get to make a really
long drive back to Illinois again. I think I'll ride with Mama this time,
since Papa has his truck full of tools and stuff. It will be good to get
back to the kitties - they are my best friends in the whole world!

Anyway, thanks for letting me tell you about my adventure.

Hihi! Starr da Dogg here again.

Sure enough, yesterday da humans decided it was time to go back to
Illinois. I decided to ride with Mama in her car, 'cause she has more
room and 'cause I didn't get to see her for almost a WHOLE WEEK! We drove
into town to drop the new key with the real estate lady, and most of the
downtown roads were closed off. They were getting ready for a parade - it
was so cool! All of the people sitting on the curb, and all of the cars -
it was the neatest thing ever!

Then we went to visit the new dog park in Newton. I have been there once
before with Mama, but this time Mama and Papa with took me, and they let
me off my leash. I got to run all over the park - it was the coolest
thing ever! There were no other doggies there, but I could smell that
there had been bunches of them. I got to run all over the park, and got
to chase skwirls, and I had a great time. Then we all got onto the road.
We stopped every hour or so to let me walk the humans, and when we got to
the big big river we stopped so the humans could get some lunch and share
it with me. They both had tuna sandwiches, and they let me have some. I
love tuna - it's the best stuff ever!

We finally got home in the afternoon, and I got to run in my own backyard
again, and I got to visit with my best buddies in the whole world, the
kitties. And then I went to sleep, 'cause it had been a really busy
weekend.

Anyhow, we're all home now, and I told Ranger all about the truckstops
named for him, and I've snuggled all the kitties and both of my humans,
and now I'll let you kitties have your newsgroup back. Thanks!
