This is a strange thing I've observed on Frank now and then. As most of you
probably know, Frank has a pink nose. Every now and then, a stripe along the
top of the pink appears. It's a brownish stripe. Sometimes it's only a
pin-stripe, barely perceptible to a worried Meowmie's eyes, but the other
day it was thick (about half a millimetre (0.02 inches?)). Sometimes there
is no stripe at all. I'm wondering what it can be. The first thing that came
to mind was some sort of blood clot that gathers at the top of his nose.
When he had the thick stripe, I rubbed his nose and a while later the stripe
was gone. It wasn't some smut *on* his nose, it was under the skin. Does
anyone have any idea what this could be?

I think it's time to make an appointment with TED. It's about time for Frank
to have a thorough check-up. After all, he will be 17 in November. I just
wanted to check if anyone here had any similar experiences.

Is it seasonal? I had a white cat who hat a tiny streak of black fur on
the top of his head that came and went with the seasons. I doubt
whether it's anything to worry about, but can't hurt to ask your vet.

Wierd. Please let us know waht TED saysabout it. I have never heard of that
before, but I have not had any pinked nosed kitties.

I've had quite a few white cats (with pink noses) over the years. I
vaguely remember some of them had a darker "outline" around the pink
nose, but can't remember whether it was constant or intermittent,
because I never really paid it much attention. FWIW, they all lived to
ripe old ages, so I doubt it's anything to worry about.

Yes. You really need to get out more.

Oh well, Marina - sounds like you spoke too soon when you thanked folks
for taking you seriously...

Frank's nose varies, too, from nearly white to deep red, but this is
different.

It's his little imperfection that makes him perfect. Just as me having only one
eye is the little imperfection that makes me perfect.

I don't know, but I think Rufous' nose does a similar thing. Fez and
Rufous both have pink noses (and all pink pads!), but I've noticed
Rufous has some brownish spots on the top part of his nose. I never
noticed them before, so I'm guessing they're new. Didn't think any of it
until you mentioned it. Let me know what TED says!

Lots of purrs and best wishes for Frank's stripe to be nothing serious from
