Default Nico, the tub, and Mr. Toothbrush

Some very odd things end up becoming fun games with cats.

I used to live in an apartment that had a combined shower/tub. And I
used one of those cheap plastic shower curtains, which had developed a
rip just about the same height as the edge of the tub.

Nico, long departed, wasn't repelled by water. He used to hang out on
the lip of the tub while I showered and would try to reach down to the
water that he could see streaming along the bottom of the tub. Once in
a while he'd actually fall in with a great loss of dignity. The rip in
the curtain wasn't exactly a random occurrence either.

One day while showering I stuck an old toothbrush out through the rip
in the curtain, immediately attracting the attention of Nico who
proceeded to bat at it and try to kill Mr. Toothbrush. Of course, Mr.
Toothbrush wasn't going to volunteer to get clobbered so he would keep
hiding behind the curtain, sticking his head out long enough for Nico
to get in a swat or two and then hide again.

It wasn't long before the rip needed to be reinforced with duct tape.
My other cat at the time (Lucky Boy or Bushky) never was interested in
savaging Mr. Toothbrush, but Nico never tired of that game.

Great game! I have never met a cat in my life who could resist going
after something poking in and out from behind something, such as a
rug or bed comforter - but I like the shower curtain idea, too.

Sounds like a fun game! Persia likes to poke her head in the shower and
yell at me that I'm getting WET! "Oh, the humanity!" We play hands under
the blanket. She charges, she catches, she bites (not too hard). They
always like something that moves around. Sounds like a rip in the shower
curtain with a toothbrush is fun! But I'm not going to rip my shower
curtain to play this game
