Awww! This will be Miranda's fate once I figure out how to connect my
new laptop to my broadband connection (computer blonde here - anyone
want to help? It has a built-in modem, and I thought I'd just have to
plug it in and then follow the steps on the connection wizard, but it's
not working).

Unless your broadband is a lot different from mine, you will need an
Ethernet connection from your laptop to your broadband (is it DSL or
cable?) modem. Depending on the brand and model of laptop, you might
have one built in or might have to buy one. If you don't have one built
in, you can buy either a USB ethernet adaptor or one that plugs in to
your PCMCIA port (if your laptop has one - Nancy's Powerbook doesn't
have PCMCIA).

If you can send me the brand and model of your laptop I can find out
whether you have a built-in Ethernet port. Or just look on the back - it
looks like a telephone line connector, but is about twice as wide.

I can't seem to see it, either. =o( However.... I have a question for you
about another picture of Vino.... Might I please have a copy of that picture
of Vino curled up in the Wok on your stove? =o) Or could you repost the
link to that picture? (At least I think it was Vino..) I have some cat
loving friends I'd like to show it to, and I think they'd get a huge kick
out of it while being properly appreciative of Vino, himself.

Thanks!
Melissa

I have DSL. The specifications said it does have Ethernet (one thing
with being a computer blonde - you do read manuals P). There's a cable
that fits into the data transfer port in the wall. I suspect our systems
are very different from yours. I know phone plugs look different in
different countries, as do electric plugs. I should have thought of that
before I asked for help.

That's weird that you can't see it. It's just the yahoo photos site,
link is in my sig too.
Try this link to the first wok picture, the second wok picture is the
next one in the album and the new pic is the next one after that.

Ethernet RJ45 plugs are the same everywhere. How is your DSL connected
at the moment? Three methods I can think of, an internal modem, an
external USB modem or a modem/router with an Ethernet connection.
Hopefully it's the last one as that's the easiest, if it's a USB modem
you will need to install drivers, if it's an internal modem you need to
buy either a USB or Ethernet DSL modem.
