Now Lyn why would you be looking for cheap, are you sure you can afford the animals you currently have, or should they be given to someone who can buy them only top grade Advantage... |

That's about 25% less than other sites I have looked at. I buy the large dog size and split it up into smaller dog doses. I don't need to dose the cats - they stay flea-free from the dog being treated. -L. |

You know there is nothing wrong with looking for a price break. While I
don't agree with splitting doses on this type of medications it doesn't necessarily mean that she or anyone else can't afford to take care of their animals. I had a lab/husky who for years had cancer & severe arthritis I asked my vet for a prescription to buy his pain medications on line or else to give me a break in price and I'd buy from him. It in no way meant that I couldn't afford to take care of Barney. I'd have people tell me I was nuts for spending $70.00 a month on medications for him. I'd just say well hell I spend over $300.00 a month on my transplant medications so what the hell is the difference. It's my money I'll spend it how I want. Celeste "Trish" wrote in message ... I agree, but Lyn knows exactly why I made that commernt, her idea of a fit home is one that is very large and there is plenty of cash to flow around, skimping is not permitted for others, according to her past posts when the Conan discussion was happening. |

While I don't agree with splitting doses on this type of medications Advantage formulation is exactly the same for dogs and cats. It is perfectly safe to buy in bulk and aliquot what you need per dose as long as you do so accurately, and store the meds properly. Many people with multiple pets do so. In fact, the Advantage sales rep is the one who suggested I do this initially - he was a pretty good mensch. it doesn't necessarily mean that she or anyone else can't afford to take care of their animals. Celeste Good for you - you undoubtedly received much more back in terms of love from him over his final years. I did similar with my dog Tosh over her last 9 months. I just wish her quality of life woulf have held out longer. I am extremely frugal. I am not into consumerism for the economy's sake. -L. |

Trish wrote: I agree, but Lyn knows exactly why I made that commernt, her idea of a fit home is one that is very large 1200-1500 sq ft isn't "very large". 5000 sq ft is "very large". and there is plenty of cash to flow around, Only in terms of actually being able to afford meds like Advantage, decent foods and proper vet care. I don't care where anyone purchases their drugs. If they are wise enough to save a buck, good for them. I have counseled many a person on where to buy less expensive pet products in the past. skimping is not permitted for others, according to her past posts when the Conan discussion was happening. Where did you get that idea? The only thing I ever said was that I do not personally place cats unless there is what I believe to be adequate living space (I believe the statement I made was 1500sq/ft with humans), and that I would not adopt to anyone who is not financially solvent and stable. The reasons for this are many, and I have outlined them a couple of times. I am sorry if my criteria burns your ass. Too bad. But I don't think you'll be adopting a cat from me anytime soon, anyway. -L. |
