The crops are fine. Citrus growers use smut pots to heat the
area and use flowing water to keep everything nice and sweet.

What's a smut pot?

Dang spell checker smudge pot

I rather preferred the image of Florida growers having emergency
bonfires of pornography and putting out appeals on local radio for
people to come down to the orange groves with bundles of sticky
old magazines.

Not sure what kind of "sick" you're experiencing.
But if it's a cold/flu/resperatory thing, I have a thought:

You're normally in air that's 80,90, 100% humidity.

16 deg., even at 100% humidity is still awfully dry air. By the time
you've warmed it up to 70-75 in the house, your relative humidity
is down around the level of the Sahara.

Throw a pot of water on the stove and let it boil for a while to add
some moisture to the air. Your lungs and sinuses will thank you for
it.

Yes respiratory. It not helping that I went to the hospital awhile ago due
to the flu

It also did not help that when I was down there it was 90 degrees and than
when the ship got back out on the ocean it dropped down to 40's than add the
wind-chill of the sea breeze with being stressed out while on vacation. I
had a bull's-eye painted between my eyes the movement I left.

I got a humidifier I will turn it on thank Nomen

What happened to my good old hillbilly self who could dive into ice filled
water and laugh about it. See what happens when you go from being a
hillbilly to a red neck

I prefer the smut pots view. Makes you laugh and as cold as it is here
tonight it helps a little.
