Default stomatitis

In May I adopted a 7 year old male cate from a shelter and it turns
out he has stomatitis. Web searches haven't revealed a ton of info
about treatment - it seems to vary a lot from situation to situation.

Any personal experiences with a cat that has this whether your pet or
your feline patient? Right now he eats Hill's t/d and just started
interferon.
The diagnosis was arrived at d/t to appearance of swollen red gums
though there is no apparent plaque, tartar or bad teeth. The cat is
also does not seem to be in pain at the moment and is FIV- and FELV-.

Thanks so much for any input.

For information use www.google.com and write in stomatitis +cat.

A web search, well gosh, I would've never thought of that!
I posted because a) I was hoping for some anecdotal info b) the web
does not have a ton of info that's helped us so far.

Anyone with experience on this issue?

Even though you are shunning a web search, there are personal stories on it,
including the above.

As my first post states "web searches have not revealed a ton of info."
this is not synonymous with shunning a websearch.
Aren't dictionaries lovely?

Thanks for that link Candace. I like the warning they put in bright
red letters about auto-immune response. It is exactly what Shadow's
vet said about him being on Interferon for the FeLV and his IBD, so
we had to cut the interferon out.

"CAUTION: It is IMPORTANT to understand that an auto-immune response
is typically caused by an abnormal, HYPERACTIVE, overstimulated
immune response. Please do NOT give your cat immune stimulants or
supplements without checking with your veterinarian. Stimulating an
overactive immune system might make matters worse."

Yes, of course, you're right...I am a moron so **** you. Hope your cat is
okay, though, too bad it has an asshole for a mom.
