_My_ cats are green
Frank and Lyle are big fans of bio-thermal heat.
Anytime I lay down, even for a few minutes to watch tv/dvd, they are there huddled against me in a few moments. Their radar ears and digital signal processor can detect a person getting onto a bed at 100 meters. |

My Frank always used to appear in bed within minutes after I'd gone to bed, whether for a daytime nap or to sleep for the night. The current ones don't appear as quickly, but they're always there, sleeping, in the morning when I wake up. -- Marina, Miranda and Caliban. In loving memory of Frank and Nikki. |

I find a warm furry body curled up on me HELPS me to sleep, but I recently read an article that advised banishing pets from your bedroom in order to improve sleep. How do you guys feel about that? |

Especially given their unparalleled ability to totally ignore us. Jo |

I guess it would be worth a try if you were having trouble sleeping. I find I get to sleep better when everyone is where they 'belong' and that includes Molly on top of my feet. Its just right, even if it isn't the most comfortable choice for either of us. Jo |

At least for myself, I don't agree. I don't have problems sleeping and would let the cats stay even if I did. |

It depends. Usually I let my cats sleep with me because I enjoy their company. Sometime during the night, Roxy will climb on me for a little purry cuddle-fest. I can't say they help me sleep better, though. In fact, they often interrupt my sleep with various requests - Smudge will stand at the window and yowl, which means she wants to go outside. If it's close enough to morning, I get up and let her out. Sometimes Licky will stand on the floor yowling, for no reason that's obvious to me. But if I turn on the light to see what's going on, I see that he's standing there with one of his toys on the floor in front of him. He wants me to get up and throw it for him! How can I get mad at that?? (But no, I don't oblige him!) If I really need to get a good night's sleep, I'm afraid I do banish the cats from the bedroom. The honest truth is that I sleep a lot better without them there, but I also miss them. -- Joyce ^..^ To email me, remove the XXX from my user name. |

Mine don't bother me during the night. Whether they come to bed before or after I've fallen asleep, they just curl up beside my legs. OK, Miranda likes to walk all over me and knead and purr, but she comes to bed soon after I've lain down, so I'm still awake then. I quite like my evening massage combined with purr therapy. Very relaxing. Caliban usually comes to bed later, but he always curls up quietly and goes to sleep. And they are still asleep in the morning when I wake up. -- Marina, Miranda and Caliban. I find my cats help me to relax. Their purrs are wonderful. The most the
do in the night is walk all over me. The one that wrote the article about banishing cats from your bedroom, must not have any. Sort of like the person who wrote all those articles about "the golden years" must have been all of 21 years old. "Marina" wrote in message ... I'm quite fortunate- I have never had to ban the Fabulous Furballs from the bedroom but by and large they seem to have banned themselves. yes when I get into bed, Sarsi (and sometimes Dunzi) will climb up for a skritchie and maybe even doze off on top of me for a bit but then they go to their favourite sleeping places once we;re both asleep. Sarsi likes Dave's chair and Dunzi likes the sofa so when I get up in the morning they're usually both sound asleep on those but even if they chose to stay in the bedroom then Sarsi prefers the top of the bookcase and Dunzi likes the table by the window. Sometimes in the night if I am awake I hear them going off to their boxes or the food dish and if I am awake about 5am they're usually awake as well so I might skritchie them (I've heard waking up early is a symptom of depression? I've always done it and I quite like it- first of all it feels like I am getting a bit of a lie-in because I don't have to get up just yet, secondly I find it very peaceful, Dave asleep next to me (remember not so long ago I was waking up without him next to me), the streets are quiet. I usually remind myself what I need to do today, skritchie any cat within distance then settle down and go back to sleep) occasionally we have the impression a herd of stampeding wilderbeest have invaded the house and sometimes they bounce off our heads but on the whole they let us sleep Lesley Slave of the Fabulous Furballs |
