Default Ishtar's gone

We had our little Ishtar put to sleep this morning. We've had her
since she was a few weeks old.

She was nearly 17 and had been ill for a long time. Still happy
and purring to the end, despite losing weight and getting weaker.
But this morning we found her lying in a weird position stretched
out flat on the floor, then she vomited blood and it was obvious
her time had come. At the vet she just stretched out her paw for
the injection with no fear at all, and was gone in seconds. Not
a twitch, just quiet purring and then stillness.

She was always the most affectionate of our cats towards the others.
If there was a pile of cats cuddled up together, she'd always be in
there. And at the end, the others returned the affection - there
was always another cat snuggled up beside her to keep her warm and
help groom her.

She kept Muriel company for months through her last illness until
she died earlier this year, and they're buried in the garden next
to each other.

I'm so sorry, Jack, even when you know their time is limited it still hurts
like hell. I've lit a candle for Ishtar.

I'm so sorry, Jack. Ishtar will be greeted at the Rainbow Bridge by my
Cleopatra. She was about the same age.
