The story of Max and Francesca
Several people in my new community had told me about Max and
Francesca, but the other day I was biking down a block and I saw them; I knew it was them as soon as I realized what I was seeing. Max is a big dog. You could almost put a saddle on him. He's beautiful and must be a service dog because we aren't allowed to have big dogs like him. But he's absolutely regal looking. Francesca is a cat. A small, black and white cat. And Francesca and Max are apparently the best of friends. Max was being walked along the curb, and Francesca was walking a few feet away from him, taging along for the trip. I came up to the owner and started talking to him so he stopped, Max stopped, and Francesca stopped. Max, of course, lives inside the house and they also have a cat. Francesca won't come inside, but they feed her. As soon as Max comes out the door, Francesca comes running from wherever she was and goes along for the walk. It really is so sweet and it just looks so funny, this huge dog and this small cat walking together. Life can be very pretty sometimes. |

It really is so sweet and it just looks so funny, this huge dog and this small cat walking together. Life can be very pretty sometimes. That's a lovely story. Many moons ago, I use to ride a horse because his owner often could not exercise him. He also had a collie, who chose to spend all his time with the horse. If the horse was grazing in his paddock, that dog was beside him, lying nearby, and he chose to sleep in the stable with the horse rather than be in the house. If I took the horse out, that dog was running along beside us. One day, the collie was running along at the side and suddenly he veered across the road and got hit by a car coming the other way. He certainly dented the front of the car but got up, shook himself and was OK. The owner of the horse had to pay to have the car repaired. As far as I know that dog and horse remained together in the stable and paddock until the end of their lives. Most dogs attach themselves to humans, not this one. He only wanted his horse. |
