The Ham monster
Puff is my 11 month old long haired tuxie, and he weighs 3lbs 8oz. He is
VERY small for his age - he reminds me of KFC. I am usually the one that does the medicating and force feeding of the sick ones, but my DH has fallen in love with Puff, giving him his meds, wiping his nose and making sure he eats. But, Puff is a ham monster. He was very sick about 3 weeks ago, and all we could get him to eat was baby food ham. He is recovering, and is eating regular cat food, but he still demands his ham tribute. He will walk over to DH and squeek at him - we swear he is trying to say "ham". DH goes to the fridge and takes out the ham, while Puff is trying to 'help' him. DH finger feeds him until he gets enough, then cleans his nose off (Puff could do with out that, thank you very much!) They then have a cuddle/play session, with DH tickling his belly and making him bunny kick and nibble his hand. It is very cute to watch. I think I will keep DH a while longer. G Miahi |

The Ham monster
Now two of mine will do anything for ham. I usually microwave a couple of
slices for a sandwitch and the smell brings them running. The Fluffy actually gets right up and tries to take a piece right out of the sandwitch, so I have to cut him his own pieces. The Ham monster
Roxie is our special ham monster, so much so that I am afraid to even
spell out the word here--she is highly intelligent and intuitive, and I have no doubt I'll be walking in from the bus stop tonight and she will greet me with a stern "Well...?" Roxie is only eight pounds, but tall, lithe and athletic. She is also very mild-mannered and was easily intimidated by Stosh and our fosterling Brian in her early months with us, so her entry into the ham-thieving underworld took us by surprise. Louie's Mutha brought us a couple pounds of good baked ham, swimming in a proprietary glaze. (little so-and-so will not share her best secrets with the wife of her eldest, the little...) Because Louie can come home for lunch, we live so close to his work, he did one afternoon and began to carve out some non-kosher goodness for a sandwich. The urge to use the litterboix was urgent, though--Louie ran to the Reading Room, and in a few moments he heard a wet PLOP on the kitchen tile. Upon closer inspection it was not the little piggies Stosh or Brian, the obvious culprits, but demure little Roxie with ham juice all over her paws and whiskers. When Louie decided to cut up a piece and leave it for the three cats, the boys gallantly let Roxie go first, and she went in and took the biggest hunk as payment for her services. It was the beginning of confidence for our little Madame, who began life as a bullied youngster in a cat collector's house before being turned over to the shelter where we found her. G Miahi Wow, only 3 1/2 lbs. at almost a year old: Puff certainly is a small cat! Your DH is a keeper, I would say. I hope Puff continues to improve, and has no further illnesses. ~~~~~~~~~~~~ ^..^ "Life without cats would be only marginally worth living." -TC, and the unmercifully, relentlessly, sweet calico kitty, Kenzie.
