You can have her spayed any day now. Spays are now done from 8 -12 weeks &
up. If she goes into a heat before having her spayed, it's more difficult
to time the appt. for between heats - which is preferable to having the op
done during a heat.

i have a female siamese (pedigreed) that is 6 months old. Is there an
optimal window for having her spayed? Do I need to worry about getting
her spayed before full sexual maturity? With boys, it's best to have them
neutered at about 4 months so that they don't develop tom characteristics.

And, I believe, the vet likes for the kitten to weigh at least 2 pounds.

Actually, she should have been spayed 3-4 months ago. Young kittens have
less abdominal fat and muscle = less cutting and tissue trauma and quicker
healing. Less abdominal fat also allows easier movement in the abdominal
cavity and excellent visualization of the ovarian pedicle. The smaller
blood vessels allows for precise hemostasis with virtually *no* bleeding and
*shortens* operative time. Kittens are up and about and fully recovered
within minutes after surgery and pay little if any attention to the tiny
incision.

Hi,

Can't answer your question but I was just wondering if you have/had other
Siamese?

We have two and my parents had one when I was a child. You are going to have
so much fun!
