Hmmmm. Let's pretend I have more than one cat. The layout of my house
isn't really conducive to separate feeding stations. Persia's food and
water bowls are in my bedroom. There is no floor space in the kitchen
for them. There's no basement, no upstairs/downstairs for separate
feeding stations. I suppose I could put a food bowl in the guest
bathroom. But I can't think how I'd manage to keep the other cat from
eating it, too.

I believe that someone has marketed a product for that. Yes, here it
is:

Interesting technology, but I haven't found cats tend to be very much
into techo-stuff.

My cats are already wearing collars with an RF tag on them that is
part of the Loc8tor tracking system. These guys should get together so
I can have one RF tag that can be used for tracking or feeding!

I have the Loc8tor since I let them out in the backyard, which is
theoretically fenced in, but since it's possible that they could
escape, it's just insurance that I can hopefully find them.

Persia wears a collar with a tag inscribed with her name and my phone
number. She's micro-chipped. Someone front declawed her so she doesn't
go outside. I wouldn't let a cat outside around here anyway. A couple
of years ago there was an alligator in my back yard.

I've seen videos of a cat challenging alligators... not a great idea.
The people taking the video thought it was cute. Yeah, one snap and the
cat is gone.

There are also large birds of prey (owls and hawks) which can easily
injure cats. Also raccoons, which aren't the friendliest of critters.

Around NYC there aren't too many predators as long as we keep them off
the streets. We do have possums and raccoons, but my cats haven't had
problems with possums and the raccoons only come out at night when the
cats are inside.

I think the backyard is pretty safe for them although I have seen a
few big birds way up high that might have been interested. Still, they
love it outside and I let them out when I'm home. Starting around now
the temperature is nice enough that I leave the back door open and
they can come and go as they please. Just not out of the yard.
