Default Pill Pockets! Giving pills daily to cat

I went to the site but they don't tell you how many pill pockets you get
for $3.99. Does anyone know?

My package says 1.4 oz., approx. 40 pieces.

I use the Pounce hairball remedy treats (the soft kind) - they are
filled with the hairball remedy stuff and just a pinch opens the side
and the pill slides in and in 99% of the time my cat eats the whole
treat and gets the pill too.

Our cat takes her pills with no encouragement required, we use cat
toothpaste; goop the stuff all over the pill, the cat goes to lick it (our
cat loves cat toothpaste), it's such a sticky blob she ends up with the pill
in her mouth as well, then tends to just swallow the lot down. We had tried
to hide it in food etc. but she was having none of it, the toothpaste works
a charm though.

Gideon usually doesn't give me a problem with small pills, but the
Tapazole he just got put on must taste really bad, because he was
hiding them in his mouth and pretending to swallow, and then spitting
them out under the table.

My vet gave me a packet of Pill Pocket treats to hide the pill in,
and he gobbled it right down.
Here's a picture of the Pill Pocket

She also gave me a Pill Popper, that other people described,
in case he ate the treat around the pill, but I guess I won't
need it this time.

My old cat (16 years old) has just been put on Fortekor-5 (an ACE
inhibitor). I give him 1/2 a tablet a day.

Anyone have any advice on the best way to give him his pill each day. I
have tried crushing it and putting in whipped cream, or his hairball
medicine.
