21: Pets Travel Scheme [PETS]
Pets Travel Scheme [PETS] European countries eligible for PETS Pets resident in the UK can, having travelled to one or more of the countries below can return to the UK under PETS without quarantine provided they meet the rules of the Scheme. Pets that come from one of these countries and have been resident in any of them for at least six months can also enter the UK under the Scheme as long as they meet the necessary rules. Andorra Austria Belgium Cyprus [1] Denmark Finland France Germany Gibraltar Greece Iceland Italy Liechtenstein Luxembourg Malta Monaco Netherlands Norway [2] Portugal [3] San Marino Spain [4] Sweden Switzerland Vatican [1] Cyprus - there are special requirements for all pets travelling from Cyprus to the UK via Turkey. [2] Norway excludes Svalbard. [3] Portugal includes the Azores and Madeira. [4] Spain includes the Canary Islands, but excludes Ceuta and Melilla. Under PETS, pets from the Channel Islands, Isle of Man and the Republic of Ireland can, having travelled to any qualifying country, return to the UK as long as they are accompanied by proper official certification. Jersey, Guernsey, the Isle of Man and the Republic of Ireland have each produced their own official PETS certificate. Certain long-haul countries are also eligible for the Scheme. Long Haul Countries The Pet Travel Scheme was extended on 31 January 2001 to include certain Long Haul (ie non-European) countries and territories. These a Antigua and Barbuda Ascension Island Australia Barbados Bermuda Cayman Islands Falkland Islands Fiji French Polynesia Guadaloupe Hawaii Jamaica Japan Martinique Mauritius Mayotte Montserrat New Caledonia New Zealand Réunion St Helena St Kitts & Nevis St Vincent Singapore Vanuatu Wallis and Futuna There is a slightly different procedure for bringing pets to the UK from these countries or territories.
