Costco has finally brought back their packaged duck halves, which I
dearly love. Last time I saw them was three years ago when I just got
out of hospital.

So I've got it in the oven. The aroma is heavenly. Little Feet starts
yelling, "Hey! HEY! Duck is my natural prey!" He even comes over and
yells at the stove to hurry up.

When it comes out, I blow on some small pieces to cool them off, and
give them to him. He wasted no time devouring them.

I put my plate down on my desk, and went to tell Senyah something. When
I came back, Little Boy is licking my duck (and thankfully, not dragging
it off the plate!). So I pull some off the bone for him, and he devours it.

Even little miss "I'm still not sure you aren't trying to poison me"
Apache lifts her ears, and asks (politely - she IS a lady) for some. She
also devours her duck.

As did I. I love this, and bought six packages of duck.

OH, I love those and would head to Costco immediately (the ones with
the orange sauce?) but with the gas lines around here caused by Sandy
I think perhaps I'll wait until a few more gas stations open. Mostly
I'm using a bike to get around but I don't know if there is a secure
place to leave a bike near Costco.

GLyN started watching me boil potatoes a few days ago.
When I took them and started peeling the skin off (after
cooking), he sat fixated on my desk watching, and finally
tried to grab the fork with a piece of skin and potato
remnants on it, so I set it on the desk. He grabbed it,
jumped to the floor, ate that, THEN added some dry food
before heading outside.

Had MANY cats over the years, and some had weird food
preferences, but never had one that wanted potato skin!

Minstrel (RB), aka Bloggs, used to go nuts when raw potatoes were
being peeled - he absolutely loved raw potato peelings!

Just wait until you've been here a while. We will occasionally
have a round of "weird things that cats eat" discussions, and you'll
get to hear all about cats who eat corn chips, spicy hot food and
even a cat who loves cucumber slices. I had a cat who was a grain
fanatic - bread, cereal, and all manner of uncooked grains like dry
pasta and rice.

In his final year Rusty (RB) had prescription duck cat food for his pancreatitis. It really smelt like duck and the price reflected it.
I used to tell him that I didn't get to eat duck every day.
Rusty loved all his many different prescription food and duck was no
exception. It has been 2 years now since he was gone. Really miss him.

Thanks for the reminder! I love duck. I should pick some up the next time
I go to Publix. They have already roasted half ducks, cryovac'd, in the
freezer section.

Persia never pays any attention to what I'm cooking. She does bug the heck
out of me if I spend a lot of time in the kitchen. She doesn't beg for
people food. Sometimes between putting something in the oven and time to
start slicing or cooking vegetables, I'll sit down at the kitchen table and
watch TV. She doesn't like that one bit. She comes in yelling at me. The
only way I can get dinner on the table is to threaten to pick her up. She
doesn't like that one bit! So she runs out of the room.

I have been using Sara Lee honey roasted turkey for my lunch sandwich.
Both Amber and Tiger go crazy over it. Amber also loves bacon when I
cook it. (I wish she liked her Wellness cat food as much).

I am totally unable to eat duck since I had Francis Drake, my Muscovy boy.
He died of an unknown illness but he was so lovely and charming that I could
never eat duck again. I can't eat a goose either after having Shylock and
Enid.
I don't mind eating chickens.

I have a friend who uses the eggs they produce, but when one of her
chickens dies, she holds a funeral and buries it! Obviously she's a
vegetarian. (The kind who eats unfertilized eggs and dairy products, but
nothing that was once a living creature.)

Right, I believe people like your friend are "lacto-ova" vegetarians.
