I sure hope this is the case with Persia. I'm going to leave her at the
vet's for 6 nights and she will NOT be happy with me. But maybe she'll be
happy when I bring her back home. And as exuberant as Vino!

OTOH, she may be so overjoyed to see you she'll forgive you right away
- of course reserving the right to get back at you at a later date.

Last summer I decided it was time for Rocky to end his days as a stray
and hauled him off for neutering. He stayed at TED's two nights, and
he was overjoyed when showed up to pick him up. When I took in him for
neutering I was planning on rehoming him with a friend, but he was so
happy, headbutting and thanking me for rescuing from that horrible
place, that I ended up keeping him.

What a sweet story! Lucky for both of you!

I'll bet Dennis gets enthusiastic greetings from Vino, too!

Well, it's getting less enthusiastic every time Dennis leaves. The 6

weeks
away are making Vino seem to forget who Dennis is for a few days. But

after
he's been home for a while, then Vino remembers him. It's sad really, I
feel really bad for Dennis too.

Remember when Jeanette fostered Maddie kitten? She said that when she
visited her new home a few weeks later, Maddie didn't recognize her
until she made a friendly sound. Maybe Dennis can establish a certain
routine, like playing with a particular toy, or giving Vino a
particular snack, that would make the little lightbulb in Vino's head
turn on a bit faster. Smell is also supposed to be a strong
trigger for memory.

Dennis is definitely *not* the snack giver around here. He insists that
only I should feed him...smart guy because he sees how Vino pesters me at
breakfast and dinner times!
But Dennis definitely has his own style of play with Vino and he does do
that as soon as he gets home. That's how we can tell it takes Vino a couple
of days to clue in, because before that he just stares dumbly at Dennis when
he shows him "the claw" and tries to get Vino into a fight with him.

Oh sure, but as many lizards as there are around here, there isn't one
inside every day. But he definitely points them out to Vino as soon as he
sees them! Hmmm, maybe that's why there seems to be less of them lately?
