New Kitty

Well I held out for about three weeks, but today, I went to the Humane
Society and submitted myself to selection from the room full of Kittens.
On little orange tabby decided to seal the deal by rolling onto his back
and presenting his tummy for tickling :-)

His name (for the moment) is Sergeant, but he's not got enough stripes,
so he's busted down to Corporal already, and judging by his hoolikitten
antics and general insubordination, I fear he'll be a Private by the end
of the weekend ;-)

That sounds adorable. Can't wait for pics.

Smokey Wayne would have you believe that he is a Sergeant in the
Operations Wing, but according to this Supply Form, he is "kit" (ie,
equipment). I could not find his NATO stock number though...

(for those who don't know, Smokey was a feral on a military base, and
when I took him off base to my home, the security chief as a joke had
me draw up a Supply Form in order to transfer Smokey to my
possession.)

It'll take that long to bust him down??? Any kitten I've known has only
taken a matter of hours, not days (some only minutes).

You'd think -- but not he. He wants to maximize the number and duration
of tummy rubs. He learned long ago that if one gives in to the
temptation to grab and bunny-kick the hand, tummy rubs diminish. He's
so careful about it that he can't be induced to spring the trap even
when I'm wearing the special mitt I got for the purpose.
