My 10-year-old began throwing up alot right after she ate. She also had a bad
rash all over her back--especially around base of tail. I took her to the vet, and when fleas were ruled out as the cause, he diagnosed her as having a food allergy. He gave her a shot of corticosteroid and gave me information about pet food that startled me and made me realize we needed a better quality food. My vet said that VERY rarely does any animal get through their life without developing a food allergy. He has no faith at all in commercial food and gave me informatoin on WYSONG CORP. (www.wysong.net), but I wanted something that I didn't have to mail order, so I settled on California Natural, which I can get locally. Please talk to your vet about the possibility of a food allergy. My cat has been very healthy all of her life, and the allergy deal seemed to come out of nowhere. She has recovered fully and life is good again! I really don't think it should ever be considered "normal" for a cat to be vomiting after eating--even if he is a fast eater. The ONLY time vomiting is not a big concern is if it is to get rid of hairballs---and even that is not good if it is in excess. |

Good Morning:
You are not alone in this. Chelle. ============ Feed them small amounts at a time, brush them lots (minimized hairballs), give them hairball remedy (treats hairballs), and otherwise, keep paper towels and a carpet stain treatment handy. Right now I have two barfers, and two who will, um... clean up after the barfers... Good Morning:
You may want to take the kitty to the vet if you have not already. My cat used to throw up 20 minutes after he ate. We took him to the vet, they found nothing wrong. After three of these visits and continued vomiting, we demaned to see a specialist (who would not see us without a referal). The specialist diagnosed Inflammatory Bowel Disease and lymphoma. He had surgery to remove some cancerous tissue, and then underwent 18 months of chemotherapy with Cytotoxan pills and Vincristine, etc., injections. He still takes Prednisone 3 times a week and Leukeran 3 times a week to help with the IBD. He began throwing up even on this, we did an ultrasound and found that the pancreas that had been enlarged for a year, had gotten even larger and now we have to put digestive enzymes in his food. Also, one reason we were concerned about his being sick, is that 24 hours after we gave him the topical Revolution he would vomit and hide (not feeling good). The "well" cats seem to tolerate the Revolution okay. I had a friend who had used Revolution on her cat and had the same result. He kitty was sick too, I think they found out he had diabetes. At any rate, have a good day with your kitty. Chelle.
