Ceiling Cat?
These past few days, every time I lift up Caliban he stares up into the
ceiling. Just now he was sitting on my arm (ooph), when he suddenly started staring up into the corner. He left my arm (aah, relief) and jumped to a small bookshelf I have standing in the corner. Stood on his back feet and craned up towards the ceiling. I don't know, either he's found religion or I'm having some bad ceiling greeblings lately. -- Marina, Miranda and Caliban. In loving memory of Frank and Nikki. |

I ask because cats always know when you've read or watched something creepy. Then they do that thing where they stare intently over your shoulder, or in Caliban's case, acting like something supernatural is in the ceiling. He's just messing with your head - standard cat entertainment. -- Joyce - listening to Licky wander around the house, howling mournfully To email me, remove the triple-X from my user name. ^..^ |

He's just messing with your head - standard cat entertainment. I don't read scary stories or watch scary movies. I just never saw the point. I'm currently reading The Stone Woman by Tariq Ali, a story set in Istanbul in the 19th century. Nothing scary yet. You know, you didn't strike me as the kind of person who likes to be scared for fun. But I just thought I'd check. Cats do seem to get great amusement out of fluffing their tails at nothing after their human has seen a horror movie. Another thing they enjoy doing is staring intently at your shoulder, as though something is there. It reminds me of when I was a kid, and we'd freak each other out by pointing at each other's shoulder and going, "Ewwww, what's THAT?" Joyce To email me, remove the triple-X from my user name. ^..^ |

In the ceiling it could be a squirrel. My two fur kids would be sleeping on my lap and both wake, jump down and run, then sit facing the wall that backed on the garage. A mouse trap placed in the garage soon solved and ended the strange behavior. Norma in New Hampshire |
