I've just heard of a problem with a fuzzball, and purrs would be
appreciated.

My friend's mum's cat, a 14-year-old ginger tom, has been savaged
by a pair of working dogs - owned by a near neighbour of theirs.
The dogs escaped from a car, and attacked the cat, who'd been
meatloafing in the sunshine.

He's lost an eye, and apparently muscle control on one side of
his face. The vet says he must have put up a good fight, because
he's also missing four claws - presumably, embedded firmly into
the dogs somewhere!

Economics aren't a problem. The cost, up front, was 300 pounds.
The vet estimates a total cost of around one thousand pounds. The
dog owner's insurers have already agreed to pay all costs. Ginger
is up and about, and purring - but here's hoping for a long-term
recovery...

Nasty. Hoping ginger tom recovers well. For what it's worth, Waffles has
been minus an eye for several years now and it simply doesn't bother her one
bit. She still runs about, hunts, jumps, climbs... Good vet care, TLC, time
& patience can work wonders.

Geez I hate hearing stories like this - I am grateful the dog owners are
taking responsibility, though.

Tons of purrs for the poor boy to have a complete recovery.

Hugs,

Poor kitty! I'm sorry that happened to him. Smudge sends her most
heartfelt purrs for the boy, as this happened to her a few years ago.

I'm pretty surprised that working dogs would even do that. They're
usually trained to ignore stimuli such as cats. If I were the owner,
I would be worried that these dogs aren't as attentive or reliable as
they should be. Especially since the cat wasn't even doing something
prey-like, such as running.

I'm glad that the insurers of the dogs' owner is footing the bill,
though! One less thing for the ginger boy's human to worry about.
