Things are not looking good for this kitten.

Did you even TRY to contact Phil at maxshouse? They are
in NYC.

What the hell is wrong with you, Darren?

What the hell is wrong with you?

I e-mailed yesterday, and received no response whatsoever.(Which has
been typical when trying to deal with these agencies that are supposed
to care for animals).

But perhaps they are on vacation too.

I found a guy a few houses away who has cats. I knocked on his
door(noticing there where a couple of small kittens about the same
size as the one I found playing around on his porch). He said to bring
it over.

To make a long story short, his brother? net me upon my return and
said that he had taken a head count and the kitten was not one of his.
He said that it wouldn't be a good idea to take it because it might
get the others sick, and he was planning on getting rids of some of
his cats anyway.(He then advised me to let it go in the alley).

Do you have a local vet one with in the vicinity take the kitten in a
box with air holes in it. Go to the place and say I can't keep the kitten I
am leaving it is a stray the animal control is supposed to pick it up but I
will not leave an animal that is in distress outside. Walk out don't look
back at least you give the kitten a chance. Till than you have in no way

But DARREN has to go on VACATION, Matthew.

Not to worry. It's a troll. There is no kitten. It's the old
"loser has nothing better to do than try to upset the
soft-hearted cat people" again. It always picks up in
the summer.

"cybercat"

snipped

I can't state whether he is a troll but it is a valid email that he has been
posting with since 1999. I did not see any troll activity in his posting

I hope he does the right thing

It refuses to eat or drink and this morning it's eyes were "glued"
shut.(I tried to feed the kitten some Pedialyte I picked up to no
avail).

It's still pretty active, and has been attempting to get out of the
box I put it in.

But I've not been given any satisfacory answer by any of the
veterinarians, clinics, ect I've visited and called.

I'm about to be forced to put it back outside.(There are many things
that I have to do today before I leave for my trip).

NO! Do not put that poor little kitten outside. You would not only be
condemning it to death, you would be condemning it to what could be a
*terrible* death. Please take it to a vet and leave it with them for
some
care, or drive to an animal shelter (don't just call them) and leave it
there. But DON'T abandon him outside.

If one person had a bead on a shelter/clinic/vet that would take this
kitten, it would have been gone a long time ago. I've run into a brick
wall with every one I called, and the three I walked to.(No one's
recommendation has worked).

Mary, I think this asshole is a troll. No decent person would do this.

**** you, Darren, and your imaginary kitten.

Yes, I suspect the same thing. I responded only because I would rather take
a chance on giving a troll some jollies than to think about a kitten in that
condition. I'm very skeptical, though -- he has talked almost from the
beginning about needing to get this kitten out of his hair so he could take
a trip.

The next time something really terrible happens to you, you
will think of the choice you made here. And I will be somewhere
laughing my ass off. There's justice in the ether for people like
you.

Default Advice Please: Stray Kitten - some shelters for you to check

"Searcher7" wrote in message
ups.com...
I found a stray kitten near my house. I couldn't leave it outside.(A
half hour after I took the kitten in a guy across the street who likes
to bring his Pitbull outside to roam without a lease early in the
morning came out).

The Kitten, which is about as big as my hand, was unsteady and had a
lot of mucus in the sinus/eye area. He/she didn't run when I walked
past, and in fact followed me meowing the 100 feet or so to my house.

It was shivering and sometimes sneezing and coughing.(I hope it's
nothing major). Nevertheless, I put it in a box with some milk, but it
did touch the milk and went to sleep).

I posted a "Found Kitten" sign near where I first saw it.

Does anyone have any other ideas before I have to call the ASPCA?

Thanks a lot.

Darren Harris
Staten Island, New York.

Darren,

I posted earlier that I was concerned that you might be a troll. I have
done some searching since I wrote that, and I see that you have been posting
for quite awhile (with no "trollish" behavior). So, I apologize for jumping
to conclusions.

Now, what about the little kitty? Here is an article that lists a number of
shelters and rescue groups in the Staten Island Borough:
http://www.silive.com/local/advance/...es/05pets.html

Also, you now have both a moral and a *legal* responsibility to take care of
the kitten. New York has a law that makes it a criminal offense to abandon
an animal.

Here is a link that provides (from the New York City Bar):
From http://www.abcny.org/Publications/cruelty.htm

In essence, this is what the ordinance says:

A person being the owner or possessor, or having charge or custody of an
animal, who abandons such animal, or leaves it to die in a street, road
or public place, or who allows such animal, if it become disabled, to
lie in a public street, road or public place more than three hours after
he receives notice that it is left disabled, is guilty of a misdemeanor,
punishable by imprisonment for not more than one year, or by a fine of
not more than one thousand dollars, or by both.
