PING....Victor Martinez
I have a few questions regarding fish keeping....
1. How did you cycle your tank? I have read various methods....including fishless cycling (using ammonia), fish cycling, and a plant/fish combination. What, of these, do you think/know/believe to be the best? 2. Do I need to condition the water before cycling the tank? 3. If I use fish for cycling which are the most hardy to use? Hoping you can help Purrs and TIA Angela PS...I have now setup the tank....water, gravel, filter, heater, light etc. I will post photos on RPCA (hmm....is that allowed)...soon |

The small tank was cycled using a product called Biospira. If I were to start all over, I'd probably use either the ammonia method or start with a heavily planted tank, which really doesn't cycle at all. 2. Do I need to condition the water before cycling the tank? Yes, if you have chlorine or chloramine in your water. 3. If I use fish for cycling which are the most hardy to use? Danios are a popular choice, but it's best to not use fish to do it. The high ammonia concentrations during the cycle will irreversible damage their gills. -- Victor Martinez Owned and operated by the Fantastic Seven (TM) Send your spam he Email me he |
