Also, I've had it drummed into my head since childhood that raw pork has triganosis. Not sure if it's very common any more or not. Modern pork is much, much, much cleaner. It's no longer necessary to cook the daylights out of it, and trichanosis has pretty much been eradicated. My cats get raw and cooked pork all the time, with the blessing of their vet. yes and mine get pinkies too |

@aol.com enlightened us with... From: "ChakaShiva" Personally, I don't feed my pets pork mainly because it is impossible nowadays to actually get it free-range.. and I believe that an animal that has never breathed fresh air, never been in the sun or eaten grass from the ground, has been cooped up in a small space in a polluted & stressing indoor environment, can only give poor quality meat. Oh brother. rolling my eyes Have a steak or chicken from one of those places. Then have some organic from Whole Foods or something. They taste totally different. I only eat free-range meat now because after having it, the other stuff sucks. Especially the beef. What a difference! I don't like pork, so I can't comment on that kind. My Mom had some from Whole Foods to try one time when I was over. They haven't gotten anything else since. Neither have I. Costs more, but very worth it. -- -- ~kaeli~ No one is listening until you make a mistake. http://www.ipwebdesign.net/wildAtHeart http://www.ipwebdesign.net/kaelisSpace |

I buy most of my meat from Whole Foods, or another health food market in the area. I think it is definitely better. Do you have a Trader Joe's in your area? Some of the meat they carry is free range, although I'm not sure if all is. I like the frozen lamb from New Zealand that is pre-marinated. Yummy! I'm not much of a meat-eater, sticking pretty much to chicken and certain cuts of beef once to twice a week (and I won't prepare any of it except ground beef), but my parents love the stuff. We do have a Trader Joe's - I'll have to tell them about the lamb. I get the squickies when I touch any raw meat except for ground beef, so I eat it at my parents' house more than anything else. My culinary skills make it a miracle for me to make tacos. *heh* -- -- ~kaeli~ Every calendar's days are numbered. http://www.ipwebdesign.net/wildAtHeart http://www.ipwebdesign.net/kaelisSpace |

Look in the mirror baby, you are what you eat. Do you like the taste of
pig? I don't think it much matters whether the meat is free-range or not. |
