Might your grill with smoker be one of these?

It looks like this one:
http://www.charbroil.com/consumerweb...versmoker.aspx
but the grill itself is larger and the smoker smaller. It's also got the
smoker add-on on the other side. But yes, that's basically what I got.

Oh, you have an offset! Nice cooker. We only have a bullet, but our friend
in Micanopy builds offset cookers. I'm very familiar with them. Good job!

I found the exact one:

It's awesome, highly recommended.

It is definitely not peculiar. Filet mignon wrapped in bacon (like a
circle around the outside) is quite common. And it's usually not
regular breakfast bacon but proscuttio or something similar. I have
seen it in butcher shops that way and also in some quite fancy
restaurants in various regions. I don't remember if I ever saw it that
way in California, but I've never been to the Midwest, so can't speak
for there.

Are you sure? Only meat I've ever seen pre-wrapped in bacon
by the butcher is rolled flank steak sliced and packaged in
individual portions! (Even at Gelson's or at Pavilions'
"live" butcher counter.)

Here in Nashville, Tennessee, filet mignon, whether in restaurants or
grocery stores, is usually wrapped in bacon. I have only had it a
few times, but I have commonly seen it for sale in that manner.
