The pirate dogs appear
[The kitties on the beach are working quickly to build a defense system.
Trebuchets are being built, rawhides are being cut and twisted into dog bones, jingly bell toys are being fetched from the hotel's stores, and Tiger and the Inspector have their supplies of dognip. The decrepit wooden ship, flying the Jolly Rover pirate flag, can be seen in the distance sailing towards the Community kittie's lagoon. The yacht upon which the kitties arrived, Cleo's MV Purrbearer, is anchored in a sheltered arm of the lagoon where it can't be seen from the open water. Cleo, TV, Anais, and Tiger can be seen huddling together, making plans. Their tails are twitching as the plot, suggesting that they are drawing up some truly masterful plans. As they plan, Cleo is speaking on her cell phone. Once the huddle is over, these four go to help the other kitties with preperations. Over on MV Purrbearer, some action can be seen. Five Russian Blue cats appear on deck, carrying gear bags. Captain Legrand speaks with the leader of the squad, who then meows orders. All five cats dig in their bags and come out with swim masks, Draeger rebreathers, and swim fins. The lead cat also carries a large waterproof pouch. A rope ladder is thrown over the side and the five cats scramble down into the water. They all line up, adjust their gear, and submerge. Nothing can be seen of them except for the last few inches of their grey tails, sticking straight out of the water. They move out in formation, their tails making small wakes. As they move away from the ship even the tail tips disappear under the water. If a kitty had even better vision than usual or had a telescope near to hand, he might be able to see something happening on the pirate ship. The pirate dogs, seeing new prey at hand, were all gathered around the bow of the ship. This left midships and the stern unwatched. Several minutes after disappearing under the water, five sleek grey forms could be seen scaling the wooden hull of the ship and disappearing over the railing. A few minutes later they climbed back over the railing, jumped into the water, and again disappeared. Later, just a few feet away from MV Purrbearer, five grey tail tips again poked out of the water. The squad returned to the Purrbearer, scaled the rope ladder, and disappeared below deck.] |

The pirate dogs appear
[As the ship draws closer, the kitties on the beach can see a mangy
looking mutt on the bridge of the ship. An older mixed breed, the Captain-dog looks to be part german shepherd, part labrador, and parts of who-knows-what else. The Captain is barking orders to the crew, but most of the crew is standing by the rail at the bow of the ships, their tails wagging.] "What do yer think yer doing? Pirates don't WAG THEIR TAILS! Stop that ridiculous behavior! Bad dogs, bad! Get back to yer bizness, like real pirate dogs. You don't want to look bad in front of CATS, do you?" [The pirate dogs appear to be used to the Captain's ranting - they ignore him completely. ] |

The pirate dogs appear
Hmmmm, it seems dat da pirate ship is goink to run aground, duzzin't
it, Cleo? [and as she speaks, the ship does indeed, very slowly beach itself on an outcropping of rocks on a sandbar, and grind to a halt] Well, Amelia, it it luks like we've got a gud supply of rawhide chewz; seems dat we is reddy fur phaze two, duzzin't it? Yes, we are! Let's get rolling. Ok, everykitty, we've done very well with our work - we now have two complete trebuchets built, and a huge stack of rawhide bones, jingly balls, and pingpong balls. Sammy and Tabitha, if you would pull the basket down on that one, I'll pull down the basket on this one. Kitties, let's load a bunch of rawhide bones and balls into the baskets. Then we'll line up the trebuchets.... just about... there. Ok, Sammy, on the count of 3, pull that toggle pin and fire. 1... 2... 3! [With that Sammy and Amelia fire both trebuchets. Dozens of rawhide bones, jingle balls, and pingpong balls fly toward the pirate ship. Those from Sammy's launcher pass low over the ship and fall into the water on the other side. Those from Amelia's launcher fall just a few feet short, just missing the nearest rail. The pirate dogs, seeing so many yummy and fun toys streaking past, can't help themselves; they begin leaping over the railing, into the water, chasing toys. In a matter of minutes, the water around the pirate ship is churning with playful dogs. A few of the older dogs tire quickly, swim to the shore, and fall asleep. To keep the remaining dogs occupied, the shore cats struggle to reload the launchers. As they fight against the stubborn launcher, Amelia spots a couple of very large Rottweilers swim to shore, spot the launchers, and run as fast as they can towards the launchers. As Amelia meows a warning, the Rotties arrive - and jump onto the launchers, helping the kitties to get them reloaded. After the launchers are fired again, Amelia look curiously at the large dogs.] Hihi! I'z Ralphie, and dis is Freddie. We'z nice doggies - we like kitties. We saw dat you was fighting da Captain, so we figgered we ought to help. We din't want to become pirates - pirates isn't good guys, but we'z gudgud doggies. |
