All about Bob
Hi! I am new to this group but I would like to share a story. We had a
cat named Bob. My husband affectionatly called him Bob 'cause he had a Bobtail. We think he had Manx in him. Anyway.. one day my husband was in the backyard with Bob who was about 4 yrs. old and 3 new young cats about a year old. All of a sudden Bob walking across the lawn stopped and started digging. He put his paw down a hole for a second and came up with nothing. Then he put his paw back down the hole and came up with a mole!! He played with it for a minute or two and then carried it over to the young cats and plopped it in front of them like "Here, that is how you catch a mole! When I came home my husband told me the story and as he was talking Bob was jumping around the yard like a jack rabbit. I think he knew we were talking about him! He was a great cat for 17 years! |

Bob sounds like he was a great cat. What are the other three like? MLB The other three cats where siblings: Linus, Lucy and Barney. We lost Linus to kidney failure and old age about 2 years ago. Lucy and Barney are around 16 now and doing well. Barney thinks food is the only thing in life so he is overeweight. He doesn't seem to gain or loose just is very plump. Lucy is thin but has always been a happy cat. She lost all her teeth a few years ago but it is amazing that they adapt. These 3 cats where part of a litter of 4. Their Mom, we think, followed our orange tabby cat named Odie home one day. She was in love with that cat! Well she was pregnant at the time and wild. She only had three and half legs. She was missing from like your elbow to paw of her front right leg. After the kittens where born, we had her fixed and found out that she was born with this disability. So we decided to keep her since we felt she had survived this long, about 8 years, why not give her a home. Of course since we are softies, we kept the kittens. They all came out with normal legs. But since she was wild, they were to. This made health care difficult. We did not realize that Lucy had bad teeth 'cause we couldn't get close. It took time... years to get to the point of trust. At one time we had 7 cats!!! But they all got along and lived great lives. Odie lived till 17... he is another story. I have thought of writing a book on our cats. There is just fun stories. Do you have many cats? |

For that matter, for a male to undertake a nurchering and educational task like that shows a remarkable kitty. I told WooToo about Bob and she said that he better not bring HER any nasty old live moles but then she understood that Bob is at the Rainbow Bridge and WooToo says that he should say hello to our Mom. But not to bring her a mole as Mom is human and wouldn't want one. Great story. Will in New Haven -- "Have faith in the Yankees my son and remember the great Dimaggio." Do you have many cats? Just one. The current cat was a rescue that I took after my previous cat died at 16. When I was in my teens we had quite a few cats but one is more than enough for me now. She is a huge cuddle bunny. Best wishes. MLB |

When we lost Zwinkie in May 2002 due to kidney disease our Blacky (then about 6 years old) was alone. So end of June we adopted two little tomcats (Flori and Merlin, litter mates), aged 8 weeks then. After integration - about 2 month later - Blacky came home with a live mouse to show it to the little brats (He is not a great mouse catcher otherwise). Wow, THAT was a new game to them! Especially Flori took on the game of mouse catching. At one overnight foray he brought us back 3 mice. Unfortunately he disappeared in October and from what we could find out we concluded, he had been run over at the main road (which is quite a bit away, so we didn't thought, that Flori would roam that far). He wanted to let those little kitties know who de cat, who de cat. And when he gave them old moley....they all said: "yoo de cat, yoo de cat". And then they all knew who was master. Meanwhile, Luthien has been demonstrating once again, that you *can* teach an old d*g new trix (oops i'm getting the evil eye for that one) here in our Event Horizon. We got a new rescue baby Glorio from the vet last week...first new cat in this house in 13 years (Luthien's elder age) and we never thought she would tolerate it, but she continues to wow us. And Glorio is a pouncer and he has no fear. She cuffs him around the head and swears like a pirate, but he's off pretty fast, and sneaking up behind her for more. And yet, for all that, they eat together, after only one week. We are sure that Luthien has been sorely missing her big sister who died two years ago, which is the only reason we can see for her to put up with this little punk. All we hyooomaaaans in the house are dying of cuteness overdose, meanwhile Luthien just rolls her eyes. --tension |

Welcome to you and your cats! Bob sounds like he was quite a character.
