They're at it again
More bombs going off in London, very confusing news at the moment,
doesn't seem to be anyone killed this time. Sounds like a nail bomber on one tube, didn't go off and he escaped! Possible other two at Sheperds Bush and Kennington, and minor explosion on a bus. Lord knows how I'll get home from work tonight, my options are becoming limited! Marcia |

Marcia I am wondering how they pulled it off since they recently did it already. Security there must be screwed. Oh for God's sake! How exactly do you propose they monitor the hundreds of thousands of people who use the tube every day? Search every single bag? It's not like it's 300 people getting on a plane! Do be sure to let all the operators of mass transit systems know what they are doing wrong. I'm sure we'd all be very grateful. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/magazine/4676233.stm Helen, who wonders if you've ever even been to London |

Actually, England, and London especially, is known to have the worlds best security, even better than Israel. The US is always saying that they learn how to handle terrorist activities from the Brits, who have cameras all over the country. The security is VERY tight in London and they catch their crooks quickly and often without the use of any firearms. Scotland Yard and MI5 are two of the greatest security agencies in the world, and the Home Office is very careful to keep a watchful eye on all suspected terrorists. After all, they've been at this game a lot longer than we have, with the IRA, and now with Islamic extremist groups. Marjorie Hope you get home safely! -L. |

They're good at catching them it would appear, after the event, but
there is no way to prevent it happening in the first place. I just hope they leave the Central line alone as it's one the only few not affected, although that in itself scares me a bit, perhaps I'll get the overground or bus in tomorrow, not that the buses are any safer. I feel a holiday on the Greek islands coming up! |

Marjorie I know and that's why I am wondering why it happened again so soon. :/ -L. |

Oh for God's sake! How exactly do you propose they monitor the hundreds of thousands of people who use the tube every day? Search every single bag? It's not like it's 300 people getting on a plane! The logistics would be a complete nightmare. As a result of the London bombings they have just started to spot-check people's bags in the NYC subway system, & apparently police are randoming showing up on buses. If one's in a hurry, trying to catch a train, I bet many of the people chosen to get checked aren't going to be super-thrilled - knowing that they themselves are perfectly harmless - even though they know the whole thing's in the name of safety/security. No matter which city - London, NYC... there is no way every single person could be checked who uses the system each day - no one'd get anyplace on time. Otoh, London does have those CCTVs all over the place... Besides useful for later finding the bombers, it seems to me that they have to be at least a bit of a hindrance to those making their nefarious plans. Do be sure to let all the operators of mass transit systems know what they are doing wrong. I'm sure we'd all be very grateful. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/magazine/4676233.stm Helen, who wonders if you've ever even been to London Not addressed to me, but I've been 3 times & it makes it more "real" & brings it home, when one hears of trains on the Circle or Picadilly lines, for ex., being targets...
