there's a kitten in the house!
Mr Peabody here. Meowmie and Paw went away for a week, and when they came
home, Meowmie was carrying a strange bag with mesh windows. She set it down, and Emmy and I went over to give it a good sniffing. Imagine our surprise when that bag hissed at us! We both jumped about three feet in the air, and felt it was prudent to run for it. Then Meowmie opened the bag - and a kitten came out. Well, at first Emmy and I weren't too keen on having this intruder in our house, especially since our attempts to smell him were met with more hissing - and then the young upstart went and settled in on the bed and wouldn't let us join him. Meowmie explained to us that the kitten had had a rough day and needed to stay close to her for a while, so we tolerated the situation - just. Things got better the following morning when Meowmie set the newbie up in the guest room and shut him in there for a few hours. Then she let him out for a bit, and we started to get acquainted. Emmy's still not too crazy about him, but I like him. He's smaller than I am, and Paw explained that now I've moved up in the pecking order (whatever that means). Anyway - he's fun! We actually played for a while before Meowmie tucked him back into the guest room for the night. Em and I were glad to have "our" bed back! Today Max and I played some more. He didn't even mind when I ran off with his toy mousie, or when I sampled his kitten food. And we both napped on Meowmie this afternoon. I like having a little brother! Pea |

So nice of you to be so kind to the little one, Mr Peabody. Try to persuade Emily that it's a good thing to have a little brother, too. I like having a little brother! Everyone just got introduced right away? It sounds like things are going great! I hope that things go well with Emily, too! |

Keep an eye on Meowmie though she could be carried away with playing with Max. Make sure you are still in the middle of things and don't take too much nonsense. Max has already figured out that "hiss" is just part of her vocabulary, and doesn't really mean anything. I suspect he'll have her eating out of his paw soon enough. Brenda |
