great news - purrs that he/she is treatable and can find a good home

I hope so too. But I do have a niggling reservation. The wee one was in my
garage for less than an hour when PACT folk arrived. As I opened the garage
door the *stench* from the kitten was a
grasp-you-by-the-throat-and-stop-you-breathing stink. It literally filled
the air of a large double garage. So I'm concerned that whatever it is, it's
not good... I can but hope though.

There is only one thing I can think of that smells THAT bad.

But I'm going to hope I am wrong, and send purrs that TED can treat the
poor kitten.

The little one is a little boy. He's been seen by a vet this afternoon.
He had to be sedated, put on a drip as he was so badly dehydrated, and
mats removed from fur. The mats were soaked/infused/glued together with
old & new diarrhoea, and below the mats he has open wounds. He is also
FIV negative (good on this point!). The vet said that if he had not been
caught it's doubtful he would survive more than a day as he was so badly
dehydrated underneath his fur. As it is, it's still touch and go. BUT,
the vet has taken him home with her for the night, to give him the
attention he needs. He may yet not pull through, but he does, at least,
have a chance now. If he pulls through, he'll be rehomed. I'm calling
into the shelter on Friday, as I'm going to collect the trap. If he's
there, I'll be having a peek at him I've said to PACT that if the
little one stabilises, but still needs a lot of attention for a while
and if they are overly stretched on resources, I'll do a temporary
foster jobbie, as I've a room in which I can keep him isolated, but make
sure he gets the TLC he needs whilst he grows stronger ready for
rehoming.

Hopefully, he will pull through OK. Even gangrene is survivable if caught
soon enough. I once rescued a stray kitten whose severely-injured tail
had gangrene. Her tail had to be amputated, but she went on to make a
full recovery and lived for 17 years. She finally disappeared, and we
never found out what had happened to her.

The little stinky stray has been captured! He/she's currently still
in the humane trap (in my garage now..), on a pile of newspapers and
with some food in the trap, and I've covered him/her with a sheet. So
he/she's in the quiet and in the dark to give chance to *calm* a bit.
Plus he/she's out of the wind and rain (it's horrible out today).
I've phoned PACT and they are coming to collect the wee one within
the hour.
Hurrah!

WooHoo. Hope the Stinkyone finds a great forever home where he will never
have to be a stinky again (although being a Stinky is rather good)

I wish we had a group like PACT here in the US. I'm always amazed how
easily you all in the UK are able to get help with your stray/feral/
hurt kitty issues. Certainly not how it works in the US, "Sorry,
we're full...overwhelmed...can't help."

I hope the little guy survives his ordeal after all he's ben through.
At least he's safe and being cared for now.

Aww..poor little lad. Glad you were able to catch him, and glad PACT
got there quickly. I've got the Fairfax Fur Factory continuing the
purrs, now for him to recover and find himself a nice forever home.
Sounds like you caught him just in time!

Purrs and good thoughts!
