Default Sympathy for the Devil

My family came to visit and they are wrapped right around Nocturne's
little paw.

Most of our guests don't care for Nocturne as she's snobbish and
cranky to company, and usually takes a day to evaluate whether you
"deserve" the glory of her presence in the same room with you. They
take to Smokey, who lovebugs all over them, or Kumani, who's cute and
sweet.

But this visit was all about POOR NOXY.

POOR NOXY is Smokey bugging you? Come sit on the kitchen table.
POOR NOXY, do you want some catnip?
POOR NOXY, you're so stressed. If a litter box near the front door
makes you feel better, we don't mind stepping over it. (!!)

Remarks were made about how glad they were that Nocturne wasn't hiding
in the linen closet for the whole visit like last time.

She climbed up on the cat tree (behind the dining room table....we
moved it there at Yule to have room for the tree and never removed it
due to Nocturne's finally coming out of the closet to lie on it) and
did upside downy heads during our meals.

My family ALWAYS remarks on my house being a wreck/shameful/disgusting
(I don't think it's so bad) but if Nox wants a cat tree in the dining
room (dropping fur and catnip onto the table) and a litter box where
your boots should go at the front door, that's JUST FINE with them if
it makes POOR NOXY happy.

Poor Noxy shuts her eyes while they pet her and even LET THEM TOUCH
HER PAWS. B!stard cat trick--that would get me bitten!

ROTFLMAO! Well, she is the queen of deception and misdirection - it seems
she's done her job well! ;
