What reason would a vet have to know more about feline nutrition?

How much do you think they really learn about *feline nutrition*?

I like how you answer a question w/ another question. Most vets know quite a
bit about "feline nutrition". What's your agenda? Why are you insinuating
that vets don't know about nutrition? Don't they see hundreds (or thousands)
of cats a year? Don't you think education is an ongoing process? Aren't you
still learning--or do you know it all?

Not so. Haven't worked with many vets, have you? Haven't read many posts
about the advice many vets give their clients about nutrition, have you?

Very little time is spent on nutrition in vet school, and even less time on
nutrition for specific species . Most vets receive more "education" in
nutrition by petfood manufacturers' reps than they did in vet school. My
vet is a retired vet professor and I've worked with many vets over the
years, so I can say with reasonable certainty - nutrition isn't most vets
strong suit...

If you have a vet whose has solid knowledge in feline nutrition... you're
lucky.... but he/she is the exception, not the rule.

Yes. But I think most cats are too ****ed off from having a therometer
shoved up their asses and jabbed with a needle to teach the vet about
nutrition....

Not for some people... other than reading petfood company brochures... and
passing them on to their clients....
