I have that, too! Isn't it the MOST wonderful invention? How on

earth did I ever get by without DVR? Oh, I remember, I used to
wear out a lot of VCR tapes.

What is a "two-tiered" DVR, though?

I've already broken one DVR and it looks like the 2nd one is going.
When the shows start to freeze in the same time spot on a regular
basis, it's a sign of a bad spot on the disk. I really do wear

them out.

That's odd. Do they wear out more rapidly than a PC hard disk? Seems
like they should last longer than that. It would really bug me if I
had
to replace a DVR every couple of years - they're not that cheap!

Does either of you have a DVD burner attached to your DVR? I would
like
that because then I could save the shows I really wanted to keep,
without
using up DVDs on shows I just want to watch once and then erase.

Has anyone transferred movies from VHS tapes to DVD? Is it easy to do?
Is it *worthwhile* to do? I'm sure the resolution and all that isn't
as
good as a brand-new DVD, but in many cases, I don't care and I
wouldn't
spend the money on a DVD to replace the tape. I recently digitized my
favorite audio cassette tapes and burned a bunch of CDs, so I imagine
the technology to do the same thing with video must exist.

Joyce

I have two Panasonic HDD/DVD recorders which I love, I record anything I
want to watch plus things I might want. If there is anything I want to
keep
I copy it to a DVD1R or if someone wants to borrow a copy I use DVD1RW or
DVD-RAM I've copied all my old 8mm camcorder tapes and some VHS and the
quality looks as good as the original.
--

Wish me luck. Tomorrow I go to shop for a DVD recorder. I think I've got
all the information down on formats, etc. So now its just a matter of
finding a good price on what I think I need.

Why does everything have to be so complicated?

(Still ****ed that while I can make a DVD on my computer, I can't play it in
the DVD player by the TV)

I am late in this but want to ask a question anyway, hope you don't mind.

If you were buying equipment to record video tapes and CED to dvd what would
you buy and why would you buy it, Lee, who is interested for her DH

Jo are you talking about one for the computer. I can tell you the best

one
to use it is a nec3550a you can get them for less than $40 shipped they
are dual layer burners. I buy verbatim DVD+r dl and use 1 click DVD

copy
pro I have yet to have a coaster and you can copy any DVD perfectly. The
blank media cost about $2 a DVD and can play them on any DVD that is under

5
years old and any computer DVD player I am a region 1 format

Let me also add that you can add a video tuner card or a video switch over
to your computer and you can plug you DVD into your computer or watch cable
you can use this connection to change formats such as vhs to DVD

OK I don't have a stand alone DVD recorder if that is what you are asking

What I do have is a video card that I can run my DVD and entertainment
center thru. It is a ATI all in one wonder card I paid $100 for mine a
while ago they are probably cheaper by now.

I use two DVD dual layer burners one is a Nec 3550a burner
http://support.necam.com/Optical/ND3550A.asp

the other one is a Lite-on 165H6s
http://us.liteonit.com/us/index.php?...57&Item id=67
This one also has lightscribe which you can burn pictures on the DVD
with proper blank media
Both are about $ 40.00 shipped

I use 1 click DVD copy pro to make my DVD copies. I also use NERO software
to make other DVD to make transfer such as VHS to DVD etc or to make MP3
DVDs

I have never burned a coaster yet ( bad copy ). ever copy has been crystal
clear

thanks, and will this do the video tapes that are protected from copying.
We have a huge amount of videos that need copied from tape. Some tell him
he
can't copy with the dvd recorder we have now. Lee

OK I don't have a stand alone DVD recorder if that is what you are
asking

What I do have is a video card that I can run my DVD and entertainment
center thru. It is a ATI all in one wonder card I paid $100 for mine a
while ago they are probably cheaper by now.

I use two DVD dual layer burners one is a Nec 3550a burner
http://support.necam.com/Optical/ND3550A.asp

the other one is a Lite-on 165H6s

http://us.liteonit.com/us/index.php?...ew&id=157&Item
id=67
This one also has lightscribe which you can burn pictures on the DVD
with proper blank media
Both are about $ 40.00 shipped

I use 1 click DVD copy pro to make my DVD copies. I also use NERO

software
to make other DVD to make transfer such as VHS to DVD etc or to make MP3
DVDs

I have never burned a coaster yet ( bad copy ). ever copy has been

crystal
clear

I am late in this but want to ask a question anyway, hope you don't
mind.

If you were buying equipment to record video tapes and CED to dvd

what
would
you buy and why would you buy it, Lee, who is interested for her DH

Jo are you talking about one for the computer. I can tell you the
best
one
to use it is a nec3550a you can get them for less than $40
shipped
they
are dual layer burners. I buy verbatim DVD+r dl and use 1 click
DVD
copy
pro I have yet to have a coaster and you can copy any DVD
perfectly.
The
blank media cost about $2 a DVD and can play them on any DVD that
is
under
5
years old and any computer DVD player I am a region 1 format

I have that, too! Isn't it the MOST wonderful invention?

How
on
earth did I ever get by without DVR? Oh, I remember, I used

to
wear out a lot of VCR tapes.

What is a "two-tiered" DVR, though?

I've already broken one DVR and it looks like the 2nd one is
going.
When the shows start to freeze in the same time spot on a
regular
basis, it's a sign of a bad spot on the disk. I really do

wear
them out.

That's odd. Do they wear out more rapidly than a PC hard disk?
Seems
like they should last longer than that. It would really bug me

if
I
had
to replace a DVR every couple of years - they're not that
cheap!

Does either of you have a DVD burner attached to your DVR? I

would
like
that because then I could save the shows I really wanted to

keep,
without
using up DVDs on shows I just want to watch once and then
erase.

Has anyone transferred movies from VHS tapes to DVD? Is it easy

to
do?
Is it *worthwhile* to do? I'm sure the resolution and all that
isn't
as
good as a brand-new DVD, but in many cases, I don't care and I
wouldn't
spend the money on a DVD to replace the tape. I recently

digitized
my
favorite audio cassette tapes and burned a bunch of CDs, so I
imagine
the technology to do the same thing with video must exist.

Joyce

I have two Panasonic HDD/DVD recorders which I love, I record
anything
I
want to watch plus things I might want. If there is anything I

want
to
keep
I copy it to a DVD1R or if someone wants to borrow a copy I use
DVD1RW
or
DVD-RAM I've copied all my old 8mm camcorder tapes and some VHS

and
the
quality looks as good as the original.

Wish me luck. Tomorrow I go to shop for a DVD recorder. I think
I've
got
all the information down on formats, etc. So now its just a

matter
of
finding a good price on what I think I need.

Why does everything have to be so complicated?

(Still ****ed that while I can make a DVD on my computer, I can't
play
it
in the DVD player by the TV)
