Perhaps you have a cat well versed in the martial arts? Seriously I think he
is just wanting attention and letting you know he is there.

This may we adopted two black kittens from the local SPCA - one male,

Pepper and
one female, Chloe. Both of them are very sweet but very different.

Pepper since we bought him had this habit of sitting up for a long time on

his
haunches - sort of like a Meerkat. Recently he's added to this behaviors

by
waving his paws up and down, together. He does this at reflections. He

does it
at us. He does it looking at the cupboards.

Anyone else seen this type of behaviors? Any ideas what he is trying do?

I don't think my cats wave but I do know my cat Isis every once and a while
will sit and put her paws up and down sometimes when she is looking at
something interesting.

As a cat rescuer, I've seen the gesture you describe, though rarely. It
is very charming and I believe it is a natural begging motion, made to
another cat. I have seen the gesture almost exclusively in the context of
a younger, subordinate cat asking to play with higher-ranking cat.
