Hello folks,

Can anyone identify this insect?

The reason I ask here, is I saw it crawling across my desk, where my cat
was just laying minutes before, and I was just wondering if it was
something that could have been feasting on my poor fuzzy. It's about the
size of a grain of rice and walks pretty slowly.

Any ideas? I guess I'll try an insect newsgroup next... Do they exist? }

Its the highly poisonous "cystandlethium stractorthial" they inject
their venom while their host is sleeping. They rarely bite humans but
they will bite cats. Take your cat to the vet with the bug immediatly!

Looks like some kind of beetle or potato bug to me, but I'm no expert. I'm
sure that there is an insect group. Entymoligist?

I'm no entomologist but it looks like some kind of beetle or lady bug/potato
bug to me as well.

A third lay-person agrees - potato bug (aka pillbug and weevil).
Harmless.

If you ask in the bug group, let us know what they say. *g*

It looks like a carpet beetle. Take a good look at your carpet to see
oif any of it may have been eaten -- especially along the edges. MLB

Isn't that the infamous bed-bug-beetle? I have a bed full of them.
